Profile of Commander Chakotay

He is a Native American and was the Captain of the Marquis ship stranded together with Voyager in the Delta Quadrant. Janeway's original commander was killed in the process and was subsequently replaced by Chakotay.

Chakotay left Starfleet when they couldn't protect his tribe from the cardassian and joined the maquis to save his tribe.
