Q: Argh! I'm having problems finding a site I KNOW was listed with Lost in Ponyland Service yesterday... How do I find it in a jiffy?

A: Head to the Bookcase and choose the volume marked "Index" in the future, but you can just link to the index by clicking here this time. Also, if you choose to open the Table of Contents frame from the first page of the site, there's a link called index always in that frame.

Q: I don't get it... how are sites chosen for your site? How do I get mine in?

A: Scroll down to the "Policies for the Listing of Sites" section below. I reveal all my secrets there.

Q: Why did you change your site? I thought the old one was fine!

A: Well, the old Lost in Ponyland Service was my very first attempt at making a website. I've learned a LOT since then, and, since this site gets the most hits out of all of my sites, I decided to update L.I.P.S. to reflect my skills.

Q: How many hits does L.I.P.S. get then?

A: Well, according to my old tracking service at Homestead, L.I.P.S. gets between 1,500 and 2,000 page views a month. That's a fair amount I think - most of those hits come from AOL users. If you type in the keyword "My Little Pony," L.I.P.S. comes up on the first page.

Q: Okay, so why the new ponies? Why not stick with the vintage variety?

A: The answer is two-fold:

1) I'm lazy. Customizing graphics takes a LONG time. Taking them from the Friendship Gardens CD-ROM and altering the pony's colors and symbols is a lot easier than obtaining old pony pics, scanning them in, adjusting the color, altering the pony, etc...

2) These are less likely to be "stolen" from my page, allowing me to remove the right-click protect that a lot of people used to complain about. See, the only reason I cared about keeping people from stealing my pics before was that I'm kinda protective of the rare pics that I scan in and use from my rare pamphlets, books and other sources. Those sources cost money! I have to buy them and I also have to buy the programs I use to edit those pictures. I hated the idea that people could just steal my hours of work too. See the rants section of my Scrapbook for a more detailed explanation about the whole stolen graphics thing.

Q: Woah! Now that the right-click protector is gone, is the graphic I loaned you still safe?

A: Here's the way I see it: your graphic is just as safe on my page as it is on yours. Nine times out of ten, I just right-clicked and took your pic for use here. If you have some sort of protection or slicing on your page, I did the same thing for you graphic on my page. By the way - I DO NOT CONDONE IN ANY WAY THE USE OF ANY PICTURE ON THIS WEBSITE THAT IS INCONSISTANT WITH THE RULES OF P.A.I.N. OR L.I.N.K. So deal.

Q: Dandy then. So... are you registered with P.A.I.N.? Can I use your pony pictures or your backgrounds?

A: Simple answer? Yes, I'm registered with P.A.I.N. and no, you can't used my graphics. I spent a HUGE amount of time on this website and I tried to make the graphics special and unique to my site. Besides, they're all taken from the Friendship Gardens CD-ROM - don't be lazy and make some yourself!

Q: So, I've seen your pony picture of Lips, but what do you look like?

A: Anything and everything you ever wanted to know about the gal behind the pony is in the Scrapbook volume, mostly in the "more about me" section.

Everything on this website was chosen to be listed by me and no one else. I choose sites that I think have great information or are particularly well suited for one of my sections. I don't usually elliminate a site based on the way it looks, but I don't usually take a long time looking for good stuff in an ugly site!

Which reminds me, just because I don't list your site doesn't mean it isn't good - I may just already have something very similar to your site. If you want to be listed somewhere, head to my Web Rings volume and submit your site with those folks!
