This famous New Orleans fragrance was introduced to the American Public, with a song of the same name that was popular in the 50's and 60's. In the song, this Love Potion was drank by the singer, in reality Love Potion # 9 has always been a wearable fragrance. This Love Potion was part of a series of "wearable potions", a concept coined by French chemist Renee Gattefosse. There were 13 Love Potions in all, Love Potion #9 was sold by the Rexall Drug Company in New Orleans in the 20's. I was taught this formula by a former employee of that establishment. The copyright on the formula was dated 1925. Love Potion # 9 is unisex, and can be worn by men or women.
