| [Post I put on the boards that had no actual IG RP for] After I departed from my sisters side, I went deep into the woods to find seclusion for awhile. Hunger had started to make my stomach ache really bad so I left my chosen camp spot to hunt down something to eat. A large, well aged buck was grazing in a clearing, oblivious to my approach. I always hated putting down animals that didn't deserve it but it was the natural way of things. Ofcourse, I wouldn't make my target such easy prey. I purposely stepped on the dryest leaves and branches that would break under my weight so it would then hear me come closer and bow was pulled, nocked and aimed at the large beast. It's tail lifted in sudden alarm and it yelped, similar to a bark, and the group of smaller females and young that were grazing there bolted into the woods for safety. Once they were gone, the male looked at me with such a fire in its gaze that I almost lowered my aim. It seemed almost as if we had connected that evening. He would put his life in my hands if the rest of them remained unharmed. I closed my eyes and we remained in such a poise for quite some time, learning the way of his kind, his family, so I would know always which was his. And then it happened; the twang of the vibrations from the strained string were heard as the arrow flew without hesitation through the air and directly into the large creature and it dropped instantly. I replaced the bow at my back and advanced towards the fallen form and watched silently as the others returned into the clearing to watch me. They too knew that no harm would come to them and I returned my focus to the fallen body. Silver potion was downed and I lifted the body to rest over my packhorses back. We left and saught refuge in a nearby village that I had known had been running scarce on food due to the recent illness plaguing the wildlife nearby Valilnore. The residents of the village eagerly took the large creature from my horse and their cooks and butchers tended to it appropriately. That was when I had a rather strange request for them. I wanted the head to be cured and tended to correctly by the local tanners and tailors so I could be reminded always of the pride and strength that the creature had that day. Not only that, but so the group that it had left behind would know always when their new guardian was near. The beast sacrificed itself that day and now we would always be as one, honoring it's life and the lives it helped to save for all to see. |
