In recent times the greatest snow falls in the Blue Mountains occured in the event of "18 to 19th of July 1965" where snow fell on 3 consecutive days. Katoomba ended up having "30 centimetres" of snow.
On Wednesday "4th July 1900" it started snowing across the upper Blue Mountains. It snowed incessantly for twenty four hours. It continued to snow for several more days, & unlike most of the Blue Mountains snow falls which are confined to the ridge tops, these snowfalls extended well down into the valleys. All up "3 feet of snow" was reported in Blackheath near Katoomba & another report estimated "90 centimetres".
On the "1-9-1970", there was up to25 centimetres" of snow on the ground across the upper Blue Mountains including Katoomba.
Heavy snow covered the Blue Mountains in "1834" & again in "1836". Both years quoted settlers in the Hawkesbury Valley reporting the hills to the west were covered white!.
