Pipa
Pipa (Dutch Pipa), was born in February 2004 and is Gilley Grey #14. This tall, black lass was still running at the Woodlands Greyhound Park in Kansas, when it closed August 2008. We met her there and were bonded, but did not take her because of her wild, six-foot-long, bull-whip tail. (See Goldens tail tale.) Pipa followed us, via a haul, to Minnesota. We left for show dates in Pennsylvania and St. Judes, in Memphis, TN.

She tried valiantly to hitch rides to us. Just as we were getting ready for our last show of the season in South Carolina, before heading to Florida for the winter, Donna and Dr. Rodger Barr, of Northern Lights Greyhound Adoption, (NLGA) flew with her back to Kansas City. There, Kate Bressler, Carla Myers and Ann Waitley, of Kansas City Greyhound Support, relayed her southward. Pipa finally caught up with the Gilleys in southern Missouri. She was the first Grey to approach the motorhome and leap in of her own accord. Originally dubbed The Female Black Stallion, the exact moment she entered her new home, she became Miss Manners. Go figure!

Pipa got herself donated through the joint favors of KC Greyhound Support and NLGA. Thank you K8 the Gr8 and Dr. and Donna Barr!  (See Pipas full story in the Spring Issue of Celebrating Greyhounds, 2009.)
