| June 2, 2001 NMSU tailgating lot (FLARE launch) ROCKET: Y.I.F.F. I LAUNCH: 1 MOTOR USED: D12-3 SUMMARY: Excellent first flight and good recovery. A considerably long walk to where it landed, given the size of the field and how hot it was today by noon (about 95 degrees). ROCKET: Yellow Jacket LAUNCH: 21 MOTOR USED: B4-4 SUMMARY: Another textbook flight with my favorite model and favorite motor. ROCKET: Yellow Jacket LAUNCH: 22 MOTOR USED: B4-4 SUMMARY: Excellent liftoff and recovery. This thing will never die. It has now just passed Ninja for the most flights. ROCKET: Y.I.F.F. I LAUNCH: 2 MOTOR USED: D12-3 SUMMARY: Another good flight; this is going to be a great rocket. I think during the next series of launches, I'll use D12-5's instead. ROCKET: Y.I.F.F. I LAUNCH: 3 MOTOR USED: D12-3 SUMMARY: Good launch, terrible recovery. At ejection, the shroud lines snapped and the rocket came crashing to the ground, slightly crumpling the top of the tube (not critical). Will have to repair the shroud lines later. ROCKET: Yellow Jacket LAUNCH: 23 MOTOR USED: B4-4 SUMMARY: Nice flight and landing, as always. ROCKET: Maniac II LAUNCH: 6 MOTOR USED: C6-5 SUMMARY: Another textbook flight from John's scratchbuilt Maniac II. Again, a long decent, probably 1-2 minutes. ROCKET: Maniac II LAUNCH: 7 MOTOR USED: C6-3 SUMMARY: High-altitude launch. Another long period of recovery before landing about 60' from the launch pad. ROCKET: Maniac II LAUNCH: 8 MOTOR USED: C6-3 SUMMARY: Great flight. One spectator commented that the long recovery times for John's model might win him some awards. ROCKET: Maniac II LAUNCH: 9 MOTOR USED: C6-3 SUMMARY: Lucky #9 for John. Good flight to end the morning. DAMAGE REPORT: Ripped shroud lines on Y.I.F.F. I parachute. |
