| May 30, 2001 NMSU tailgating lot NOTE: The launches that took place this evening were simple test launches for Yellow Jacket. I cut out the motor retention hook on the model, given that it was loose, and replaced it with a motor ring and gave it a new 12" parachute. The following flights are recorded, but this was a test to determine whether the motor ring would hold. ROCKET: Yellow Jacket LAUNCH: 19 MOTOR USED: B4-4 SUMMARY: Textbook all the way. Not a single problem at all. Perfect parachute deployment, motor ejected out the back. A 30' walk to the landing area. ROCKET: Yellow Jacket LAUNCH: 20 MOTOR USED: B4-4 SUMMARY: Another perfect launch; it has now surpassed Ninja by three flights. This thing is going to fly forever. DAMAGE REPORT: None! All motor casings were lost due to slipping out at ejection. Great test flights. Stay tuned for the next three exciting flights (that's how many motors I have at the moment) on Saturday morning, as well as the debut of the Y.I.F.F. I, which will be flying on D12-3's. |
