"Hi!" Amanda smiled brightly. "Who are you?" "Is Pacey here?"
"Yeah he is," the girl tried to step in, "but you have to tell me who you are. I don't just let strangers into my apartment."
"I'm here to see Pacey."
Amanda's smile faded. She appeared irritated.
"I'm aware. Who are you?"
The girl frowned.
"I'm Joey."
Amanda didn't even blink. She only smiled icily and slowly started to shut the door. At the last second she reopened it. "Hold on just a sec." Then she closed it.
"Pacey?"
Amanda looked at him carefully. He seemed frozen in place. She could see the tears in his eyes.
"Baby, I can tell her to leave."
Pacey nodded. He started to speak, but couldn't.
"Do you want me to tell her to come back some other time?"
Pacey nodded again. "Tomorrow," he whispered.
"Okay." She smiled and kissed his forehead. "I'll be right back, baby."
Joey shifted uncomfortably at the door. She was about to leave when the door opened.
"Can you come back tomorrow? He suddenly isn't feeling well."
Joey frowned. Obviously this girl was making fun of her.
"Sure. Around what time?"
"How about eight?"
"That's fine."
The girl didn't say good-bye, just shut the door to signal that their conversation was over.
Joey stood at the door for a second. Then began to walk away.
*Never thought Pacey would go for the typical male fantasy type. Tall, thin, blonde. Perfect little figure. Yuck. How could he? Wait a second, Joe. How could you?*
At that moment Joey never felt more alone in her life.

Amanda walked over to Pacey. His eyes were closed, but he still looked very sad. She sat down next to him and put one arm around his shoulder. And with her free hand interlocked her fingers with his.
Pacey swallowed, trying to hold back his tears.
"Are you okay?"
Pacey shook his head.
Amanda pulled him closer to her. He let the hot tears pour down his cheeks, as she stroked his hair.
"It's okay, Pace. It's going to be okay."
And they stayed that way until they both were asleep.
