"Joey?" Pacey's is obviously breathless, making it difficult for Joey to hear him. "Joey! You're nails are digging into my shoulders!"
"Sorry." Joey removed her hands and gently rubbed the red marks she had left. Somehow, on their way to the couch, Pacey's shirt had been removed and thrown carelessly across the room. Joey lowered her mouth to his shoulder and kissed it lightly. "All better?"
He looked down at her and smiled. "All better."
"This looks delicious Joe," Pacey remarks as he sits down to eat.
"Mm. Lean Cuisine. Took me fifteen minutes. Amazing, huh?" She smiled.
"Yea. Everything you do is amazing."
"I know." Pacey laughed.
"So how was work?" Pacey made a dismissive noise.
"I don't want to talk about it. Let's talk about your day instead."
Joey cocked her slightly. "Okay. The cafe has a new waiter. Nice guy." She took a bite of her chicken francais.
"Yeah?"
"Mm-hmm. I think he likes Gretchen."
Pacey thought for a moment and then nodded. "She's a nice girl, she deserves a nice guy."
"How insightful, Pacey."
"I bet Erin likes him, too."
"Oh of course. I mean, he looks like he stepped right out of a commercial for Soloflex. Not that I like that sort of guy."
"Well, what kind of commercial do I look like I stepped out of?"
Joey thought for a smart remark and found one quickly. "The Levi's commercial with the invisible guy. Yeah, I could just picture you about to get some and have your Mom ring the doorbell."
Pacey narrowed his eyes at her. "I have a feeling I won't be wearing jeans for a while."
Joey laughed. The her smile turned sexy. "Not if I can help it."
Joey turned on her side and looked at the clock. 1:34. "Great." She looked over at Pacey, who was already sound asleep. The covers went a bit past his belly button, allowing Joey to see most of his bare chest. She ran one finger slowly from shoulder to shoulder, admiring him. He didn't stir. "You know what?" she whispered. "You look really cute when you're sleeping."
That morning Pacey awoke to the sound of the buzzing alarm. "No. I hate work. Work sucks."
"Very mature, Pacey." He turned to face Joey.
"I know, but I hate getting up at 5 am. It sucks."
"I'm so sorry."
Pacey stuck out his lower lip and slowly got out of bed. "I'm going in the shower!" he called from the bathroom.
"I was going to say something, Pace! But I didn't want to be rude!"
"Funny!"
Joey smiled to herself. She stood up and walked towards the bathroom door. She opened it and stepped in. "Mind if I join you?"
Joey hated looking for work. She went on interviews every day. But after months she still couldn't find anything. The only thing she looked forward to was lunch, when she, Erin, and Gretchen got together at the cafe. Today Joey didn't have an interview, so she decided to go for breakfast.
The hostess pulled a chair out for Joey and handed her a menu. "Seth will be here in a minute to take your order." Joey's eyes lit up at the thought of seeing Seth again. He was so gorgeous. She felt guilty for thinking about another guy, but guilt disappeared when Seth walked over.
"Its Joey, right?" He smiled nervously.
"Yeah. Joey."
He looked relieved. "I'm so bad with names. Can I get you something?"
"Sure. I'll just have eggs, over-easy, a coffee, and some bacon."
"Breakfast of champions. Your friends coming by, or are you here alone?"
"Nope. I'm here alone. But I'll be back later with them. You want to sit down?"
"Um. I don't know. Let me get your order and I'll see. Be right back." Joey watched him retreat and hoped that he would stay with her.
Seth sat down with her order. "You said over-easy right?"
"Yeah."
"Ok, good. Remembering orders is another one of the things I'm bad at."
"Well, as a former waitress, you're doing fine."
Seth furrowed his brow. "Former waitress? You wouldn't happen to be looking for work, would you? We could really use some help."
"Oh. No way. My waitressing days are over. Sorry."
"That's okay. I completely understand. Can I ask you a personal question?"
