"It should have been Jack! I saw Jack!" Trisha cried. "I swear it was Jack." Jennifer Fear tried to comfort her best friend. She pulled Trisha reluctantly into a hug.
"There's nothing we can do about that now. We just have to concentrate on the rest of them," she said attempting to stay calm. That was a pretty difficult task considering the fact that one of the Capeside exchange students was possessed by the evil spirit of a man who died over a hundred years earlier.
"We have to tell them all," Trisha mumbled. "They need to be warned."
"They won't believe us, Trish. We have to watch him ourselves." Jen tried to think of more people who could be trusted. "The squad will most definitely help us! Corky's killed evil before."
"Three times," Trisha said sadly. "But this is different. It's a specific spirit, a very powerful spirit. We can't just drown him and be done with it."
Jennifer nodded. "And everyone back at school, his family, they'll all expect Pacey Witter to return home safe and sound. We have to do some research, find a way to kill Simon without hurting Pacey."
"Then our first stop would be your house."

"I can't believe Jen is dead!" Andie wailed. She sniffled and sobbed. Not that she was Jen's best friend, but death was a very touchy subject among McPhees.
Joey wrapped an arm across Andie's shaking shoulders. Why was Andie so hysterical? Dawson and Joey had watched Jen hit the ground. Heard her bones crack. Saw all the blood. It made Joey want to barf.
She looked around the room. The only calm people were Shadyside residents, Eve and Pacey. Shouldn't Pacey be a little more upset? Joey thought. As if he could read her mind his expression softened and she could swear she saw tears in his eyes.
Jack moved to sit closer to his sister. He was crying too, Jen was probably his best friend. Upon hearing the news of her death he practically went in to shock. It was such a tragedy when someone so young, so full of life passed away.
Pacey got up and left the room. He ran as fast as he could up the stairs towards his room. Once inside he burst into hysterical laughter. Tragedy? A tragedy? Who were they kidding? Jen Lindley's untimely death was anything but.
This whole Simon thing was getting annoying though. He could read everyone's thoughts. In fact it felt like they were being screamed in his ear, volume all the way up. They scrambled his own thoughts and made him kind of dizzy. But they sure came in handy when he wanted a good laugh!
Staying in the same room with all those people was hard though. So many gruesome ideas came to mind. How he could kill each and every one of them slowly and painfully. The temptation was almost too much.
He started to undress and get ready for his date with Jade. The door swung open suddenly and Dawson walked in. Pacey had his pants around his ankles and cried out in angry surprise.
"Sorry!" Dawson said while covering his eyes. Pacey pulled up his jeans.
"Okay, you can look now." Dawson pulled his hand away and Pacey saw that he was crying. Pacey tried to hold back his vomit. Time to pretend to be sympathetic. "You all right, man?"
"No, I just want to go home." Pacey's eyes widened. No! They couldn't go home. Not yet. There was too much to be done.
"Dawson, don't say that. You can get through this. Everything's going to be okay," Pacey said mechanically. What a baby. Pacey knew for a fact Dawson wasn't very fond of Jen anyway. Her drinking days had nearly ruined the guy's life and their relationship was forever on the rocks.
"I don't know..."
"Listen, you just need to get some rest. Take a nap, get your strength back. You'll feel better in morning," he prescribed as he grabbed his coat.
"Thanks, mom. Where are you going anyway?"
"I have a date with Jade," Pacey replied. "And I'm going to be late. See you later!"
"Wait!" Pacey felt his blood begin to boil. In one-second he was going to rip Dawson's heart right out of his chest. "How can you go out on date after what just happened?"
"I have to get on with my life, Dawson. Do you want me to just lay around and cry all night like the rest of you?"
"No, but don't you think you're being the least bit insensitive?"
"Jen would have wanted it this way," Pacey called out from the hall. "Don't wait up for me!"

"Hold up, Pacey. I need some air." Jade placed her hands on Pacey's chest and gently pushed him away. They had been making out for a good slid hour and her mouth was getting a little tired.
Pacey rested his head in the crook of her neck. His eyes wandered downwards to her chest, clad only in a skimpy, red bra. It was incredibly tempting. His fingers creeped upward and he heard Jade giggle.
"Oh, you like that?"
"You know I do," she said, her voice sounding a little more throaty and sexy then before. Her fingers rested on his lips. "You're so cute, Pacey."
You're so vulnerable, Jade. He stared longingly at her slender neck. All he had to was wrap his hands around her throat and squeeze. So simple, but completely unnecessary.
This was fun. Kissing, groping, touching. Free of charge, no strings attached. Andie was only a memory. Jade was more like a wet dream.
"Come here, hot stuff," she crooned. He obeyed. At least this took his mind off things for a while. He could plan another "accident" later.

"They're not letting us go home?! That's ridiculous!" Joey cried. Jen Lindley had just died and both principals, Capeside's and Shadyside's, had decided that the best thing to do would be to go back to normal life. That also meant that the mourning Capesidians would be stuck in Shadyside for the rest of the semester. Two whole marking periods.
They wouldn't be allowed to attend the funeral. They wouldn't be allowed to go and visit their families. They couldn't leave period. Even Eve, who was the only senior, wasn't permitted to go home. And it was making all of them absolutely miserable.
Except for Pacey. Joey had only seen him flinch once. Other than that moment of vulnerability Pacey had seemed very cold-hearted. He had even gone out on a date with Jade.
What is going on with him? Joey wondered. Pacey strolled into the room looking very content. His clothes were rumpled, his lips swollen, and his hair a mess.
"Nice of you to drop by, Pacey," Andie spat. While they were mourning he had been fooling around with a busty cheerleader. Did he have no respect for the dead? "Have fun with Jade?" She said Jade with such contempt and bitterness the whole room could tell that she was insanely jealous.
"As a matter of fact, I had a wonderful time. Jade is so hospitable," Pacey said sweetly.
"Oh really? What did you two do?" Andie asked, sounding slightly hurt. Once that would have been her. Her face glowing after an amazing make-out session. Her clothes and hair in disarray. Feeling as happy as could be imagined. Why, why did she dump him in the first place?!
"We, uh, talked. Yeah, that's it, we talked. Jade is so intelligent," Pacey said slyly, enjoying playing with Andie. He sat next to her, breathing into her ear. "It's so nice to have someone to talk to again..." Pacey watched as Andie's lips parted, her breathing quickened.
"And it's nice to be appreciated for more than my," he paused, "mind." With that, he stood and left the room. It was too difficult to stay in the same room with so many annoying people for so long.

"Come on Jack, it'll take your mind off things," Pacey pleaded with fake sincerity. Fear Park had reopened after thirty years and Pacey was eager to see some blood. Jack was an easy target, weak, vulnerable, trusting.
"I don't know, Pacey. Don't you think it's a little too soon?" Pacey tried not to scream.
"No, I don't think so. It'll be fun. Everybody's going to go," he said. Jack nodded after a few seconds. "Really?"
"Yeah, I'll go."

The bright lights, the joyful screams, the whirring of machines were just far too cheery for Pacey. Dawson and Joey had been talking up a storm the whole way there. Really, they were so annoying.
"Come on Dawson, the Ferris wheel will be fun," Joey begged.
A solemn look came over Dawson's face. He shook his head. "No thanks, Joey."
"Why the hell not?"
"Because Jen and I..." he stopped. "The double date..."
"Want to finish some sentences, Dawson?" Pacey asked. "It's just a freaking Ferris wheel. Come on Joey."
Pacey grabbed her hand and dragged her towards the line. Dawson was left behind, chin trembling, tears in his eyes. Maybe Joey would be next instead, Jack had flaked out at the last second and stayed home with Andie.
"Don't worry, Dawson, eventually the pain goes away," Corky said quietly. "I learned that the hard way."
Dawson nodded. "Do you think you could drive me home, Corky?"
"Sure."
Joey fidgeted uncomfortably. Pacey was acting very strange lately and his outburst with Dawson kind of scared her.
"Pacey, I changed my mind. I don't want to go on anymore." She tried to leave the line, but Pacey grabbed her arm tightly not allowing her to move.
"You're not going anywhere, Potter."
They were next. Handing over their tickets with his free hand, Pacey pushed Joey into the brightly colored seat. The bar fell down over their laps when Pacey sat down. Joey thought she might cry.
"What the hell is your problem, Pacey?"
"I don't have one, Joey, but you definitely do." The ride jolted and moved forward. After a few seconds they were about halfway towards the top.
"It's so beautiful out, isn't it?" Pacey asked.
"Yeah, right." She stared at the scene before her. Pacey watched her, waiting for the perfect time.
As they came closer to the top, Pacey popped open the lap bar. Joey gasped as Pacey's strong arms lifted her up and hung her over the side of the seat.
"Pacey, please, put me down!" She was shocked at his strength. It seemed ... inhuman.
"As you wish," he replied, dropping her off the side. He pulled the bar back down and slid over to where she had been sitting just in time to see her hit the ground. Head first.
Screams came from below as Pacey finished his ride. "Am I going to get a refund, buddy?" he asked as the ride was stopped short. The man looked bewildered but handed Pacey some tickets anyway.
He strolled over to Joey's body and barely suppressed his laughter. Her neck was broken, obviously, and her body was twisted unnaturally.
