"We're getting exchange students? You've got to be kidding me," Trisha Conrad complained to her best friend. Jennifer Fear sighed and played with her dark hair.
"Yup, exchange students. Some town called Capeside. It's in Massachusetts I think," she replied in a bored voice.
"Some of them better be cute," Josie Maxwell said angrily as she joined the pair at their lunch table.
Debra Lake took a seat next to Josie followed by her best friend Stacy Malcolm. "They just got here. I saw the bus pulling onto Fear Street this morning."
Jennifer looked at her in shock and horror. "The school put them up at Fear Mansion?! Now that's just cruel." Each girl nodded solemnly.
"Glad I'm not those kids," Trisha responded. "Let's just hope they make it through the night."

"We have to go to the school now?" Pacey whined. He was tired and grumpy from lack of sleep and his neck was sore from the strange position he had been sleeping in.
"I agree," Dawson said in a sleep voice. "It's already two. Why not wait until tomorrow?" Each Capesider groaned as they grabbed their backpacks and followed a representative from Shadyside High out of the building.
"Hi, guys. My name is Josh Maxwell and I'll be giving you a short tour of the school when we get there," he said cheerfully.
They shuffled out of the bus and gloomily trailed behind Josh as he showed them around the school. Pacey spotted a cute cheerleader and stopped to chat. Josh stopped as well and introduced everybody.
"Capeside meet our cheerleading captain, Corky Corcoran. Corky, these are the exchange students." Pacey extended his hand quickly.
"Pacey Witter, pleased to meet you." Corky smiled.
"Hi, Pacey. I hope you enjoy your stay at Shadyside. You guys are right near my house on Fear Street. Feel free to stop by if you're bored or anything," she said before walking away.
"You've just met the sweetest girl in Shadyside. But I wouldn't got to her house if I were you. The Corcorans are a prime example of the Fear Street curse," he said in an eerie voice.
They all laughed. Dawson smiled. "A curse? Yeah, right. Like we haven't heard that one before." Everyone laughed except Josh.
The solemn look remained on his face. "I'm not joking, guys. Be careful." They stopped laughing.

Pacey watched as Jade Feldman, possibly the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen, slid into the seat next to him. It had been a long night and this was definitely making up for the lack of sleep.
Jade had long dark hair, green eyes, unnaturally pouty lips and was wearing a cheerleading uniform about two sizes too small. Pacey thought he had died and went to heaven. She turned and smiled at him.
"Hi, I'm Jade," she said extending a delicate hand. "What's your name?"
"P-Pacey, Pacey Witter," he stuttered. Her laughter sounded like tinkling bells and made his heart skip a beat.
"Really? You look like someone else. What's his name?" Trisha Conrad flopped into the seat behind Jade.
"Simon Fear. You look exactly like a young Simon Fear."
Jade's face lit up. "That's it! Simon Fear. I had to do a report on the Fear family once. Man, that is so weird."
"Who's Simon Fear?" Trisha and Jade exchanged glances. Without Pacey even noticing, Corky took the seat in front of him.
"The head of the Fear family. Possibly the most evil man to have ever lived," she replied. Pacey turned to face her.
"Then I guess that wasn't a compliment."
Jade laughed. "No, Simon was hot. Just like you." Pacey blushed. This was too good to be true. "Hey, you should go out with us tonight!"
"Go out with who?"
Corky smiled at him. "The cheerleading squad is going to Max's Pizza at around five. Do you think you can come?"
Pacey nearly choked. "Just, just the cheerleading squad?" Jade nodded.
"And you." His eyes went wide. Was he dreaming or did he just get invited to dinner with an entire cheerleading squad? He nodded, suddenly losing his ability to speak.
"Great," Corky cried. "I'll pick you up at quarter to." Again he nodded. Beaming, he turned to his right where Chris Wolfe was sitting.
Chris glared at Pacey and mouthed, "I hate you."
"Love you, too, man."

"You're such a liar!" Dawson cried. Pacey feigned shock. Everyone at the table stared at him like he had three heads.
"What is so unbelievable about me going on a date with the cheerleading squad?" Joey shook her head.
"What isn't?"
"Chris can vouch for me. He heard Jade and Corky invite me, right Chris?" Chris nodded sadly. "See?"
Just then Jade sauntered in and saw the empty seat next to Pacey. She quickly filled it and greeted the table.
"Hi, Pacey," she said sweetly.
"Hi, hi Jade. What's up?" Joey, Jen, Andie and Eve all looked absolutely stunned. That beautiful girl couldn't possibly be flirting with Pacey Witter. It had to be a dream.
"Oh, nothing. I just stopped by to remind you about tonight."
"How could I forget?"
"All right, you got me. You're just too cute," she replied. "I had to come by and say hello." Pacey's jaw dropped. So did everyone else's. "I hope you don't mind."
"No! No, of course I don't mind," Pacey protested. Jade looked relieved.
"Good. Because I was hoping you'd sit with me at Max's tonight. Will you?"
"Sure."
Jade picked up her bag and stood. "Great, then I'll see you later." On a whim, she kissed Pacey on the cheek and headed for the cheerleader table. Pacey brought his hand to his face.
Joey pinched herself. "Guys, we're not in Kansas anymore."

Pacey tried to control his heart as he and Corky pulled up to Max's. Jade had asked him to sit next to her! No girl had ever gone out of her way to even talk to Pacey, let alone take every opportunity to flirt shamelessly with him.
As he walked in his presence was greeted by a shrill scream. Kimmy Bass stood and pointed at Pacey with a look of terror on her face.
"Oh my god, it's Simon Fear!" The rest of the team screamed as well. Corky tried to calm them down.
"Girls, relax! It's not Simon Fear. This is Pacey Witter, one of the Capeside exchange students." The group relaxed, but Pacey still felt nervous. He jumped as he felt a hand on his shoulder.
"Hi, Pacey," Jade whispered in his ear. Pacey let out a long breath and turned around.
"Jade, you scared me."
"I didn't mean to," she apologized. The girls made room for Pacey and Jade in the booth. When they sat down Jade put her hand on Pacey's thigh. He felt his heart, and something else, jump.
"So what's the story behind this Fear guy?" Corky and Kimmy exchanged glances. Nobody wanted to tell him the story.
"It's kind of hard to explain, Pacey," Kimmy said. "There are so many versions, no one really knows the truth."
"But what happened to him? Why were you all so scared?"
Corky sighed and ran a hand through her long blond hair. "He and his family all died in a fire. The house you're staying in, that's where it happened."
"Okay. What's so scary about that?"
"The Fears practiced black magic. Simon Fear was the most powerful. He could control anyone and do anything. But as far why the fire started, nobody knows. There was only one survivor, but she was insane."
Pacey frowned. "Then why did the town build a hotel on it?"
"Because they try to pretend it's not real!" Jade cried. "But it is. The evil still lives there."
"Great, just great. That'll help me sleep at night."

Dawson paced back and forth around the large room. "Where is he? It's quarter to ten? They'll kill him if he's not back soon!"
Joey rolled her eyes. "You're such a drama queen, Dawson. Pacey'll be back any minute."
As if on cue, Pacey entered the room. "Waiting up for me?" He smiled broadly, trying to forget the creepy conversation he'd just had.
"Actually, yes. How was it?"
"It was okay. They all have a fixation with death, though." Dawson and Joey stared at him, confused. "Corky's sister was burned to death in one of the school showers. Kimmy Bass was possessed by an evil spirit and tried to kill all her friends. Trisha Conrad has psychic visions. Very interesting people."
"They sound great," Joey said sarcastically.
"Well, at least Jade's normal." He smirked when he thought of the kiss she had given him when he was leaving.
"No, she isn't. She likes you, remember?" Pacey glared at her.
"You know you're jealous."
"In your dreams."

"Simon. Simon, come here," a voice whispered. Pacey whirled around. There was no one there. "Simon..."
Suddenly she appeared. A tall, pale woman with a long black dress on. She had long dark hair down to her back and sparkling blue eyes.
"Simon, come here..." Pacey looked behind him. He was the only one in the room. "What's wrong with you Simon? Can't you hear?"
Pacey looked down at himself. He was no longer wearing his pajamas, he was dressed elegantly in 17th century style clothes.
"I'm sorry, Angelica. I wasn't paying attention." The words had rolled right off his tongue. Angelica? And why was she calling him Simon?
"You came to see me?"
"Yes, I wanted to tell you how terribly sorry I was to hear about the accidents. I hope you're feeling better."
"I'm fine, Simon. Was there anything else?"
"My darling, I just had to let you know that my intentions were good."
"What intentions?"
"When I killed them. Your suitors. They were not right for you."
"You killed them?!"
"I had to, it was the only way you would be mine."
To his great surprise, she began to laugh. "You idiot. I killed them so we could be together!"
"How?"
"Black magic."
"Oh, I see. So when will we be married?" She giggled.
"As soon as we tell my father." He grabbed her hand and tugged her towards the stairs.
"Come on. Let us go tell him now."
"Okay, okay!" They bounded up the stairs and knocked gently on the study door. "Father?" Angelica called. She twisted the knob and it opened easily.
She gasped at what she saw. Pacey became frantic, but his body thought otherwise. "Simon! You didn't!" Her father was lying in a pool of blood, face up.
"I had to," he responded happily.
"Oh, Simon! This is the happiest day of my life! Now we will be rich."
What is wrong with these people?, Pacey thought as Angelica kissed him passionately.
She pulled away slowly and grabbed two glasses of wine from the dresser. Handing one to Pacey she lifted her glass into the air. "To us."
"Here, here." They linked arms and sipped the wine. It tasted sour. "This does not taste like wine."
"Because it isn't. It is blood." They laughed and began to drink again. Blood dripped from the corners of their mouths and ran down their faces. Pacey thought he might vomit.
"Pacey! Pacey! Pacey, wake up!" Dawson cried as he shook Pacey as hard as he could. Pacey had been thrashing around wildly and talking loudly in his sleep.
Finally, his eyes fluttered open. "Angelica?" he mumbled. Angelica? Who's Angelica? "Dawson?" he asked sounding more awake.
"Yeah, man, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, why?"
"You were talking in your sleep. And not sounding too happy," Dawson explained. Pacey furrowed his brow.
"Sorry."
"It's okay, just go back to sleep," he replied as he stumbled back into bed. Pacey nodded and drifted off into a dreamless sleep.

"I had a vision yesterday," Trisha confided in Jen and Jennifer. Jennifer looked concerned and worried.
"About?" Jen was confused. A vision? What the hell were they talking about?
"I saw all of the exchange students. They were in the Shadyside cemetery. Dead," she said solemnly. Jennifer gasped. Many of Trisha's visions had come true in the past year.
"Who was first?" Trisha bit her lip and chipped some nail polish off her fingernails nervously. She didn't want to scare Jen, but the truth had to come out. Jen needed to be warned.
"It was Jack." Jen laughed. Trisha and Jennifer stared at her. She had to believe them! Or else all her friends would die. "You think I'm lying?"
"Uh, no. I think you're just trying to scare me," Jen said in between giggles. "I mean, you have to admit, it sounds a little far fetched. You saw us all dead in a graveyard and that's so supposed to make me fear for my life?" She laughed louder and began to attract attention.
"Well, not all of you," Trisha said quietly.
"Who wasn't there?"
"No, everyone was there. But one of you was the killer."
"Who?"
"Pacey."
"Right, sure. Pacey killed us all. That makes sense." Jennifer and Trisha stared into each other's eyes. They knew exactly why it was Pacey.
Jennifer put her hand on Jen's shoulder. "Pacey is Simon Fear. Simon Fear is evil. And he's going to kill you all."
Jen decided to play along. This was pretty interesting, in a sick sort of way. "So how do we prevent this?"
"You have to either get the spirit out of Pacey, or..."
"Or?"
"Or kill him."
"Oh. Sounds simple."

The world was becoming fuzzier and fuzzier. He was beginning to forget what was real and what was only in his imagination. People kept appearing and he wasn't sure if everyone else could see them, or was it just him?
For example, the day before he had seen Angelica again. Dawson had actually walked in while he was talking to her. Had the old-fashioned clothing just disappeared? Could Angelica just be a vision?
No, she had to be real! She had spoken to him, touched him, kissed him. They had drank wine, er, blood and Pacey could still taste it in the morning. And the feeling of her cool, smooth skin against his face was so incredible, he hadn't felt sparks like that in a long time.
Angelica was even more amazingly beautiful than Jade. Hard to believe, but true. She was classically gorgeous. Her cheekbones were high, her green eyes sparkled with mischief and her skin was a flawless olive color. He had a feeling he might be in love.
But that feeling was countered with something else. Whenever he was with his friends, Pacey had the urge to hurt them. Jack had been overlooking the picturesque scene that was Shadyside when the group had gone hiking during science class. Pacey had to physically hold himself back to keep from pushing him.
And that morning when he and Joey were alone. Boy had that been hard. The glass he had been holding had fallen to the floor and shattered. As Joey bent to help him pick up the pieces Pacey saw how vulnerable she was and barely resisted picking up a shard and plunging it into her back.
What the hell was happening to him?
*~**~*
"This place is so beautiful at night isn't it?" Dawson asked. Joey and Jen nodded in reply. "It's so great here."
"Yeah," Joey said wistfully. "I wish I could just pick up and move everything here."
"Me, too," Jen agreed. They came to a steeper portion of land. "Feeling adventurous?"
All eyes wandered up the side of the small cliff. They looked at each other and smirked. As Dawson ran he called, "Last one to the top cleans the breakfast dishes!"
Pacey watched from a few hundred yards away. Adrenaline surged through him. I could kill them all right now and no one would ever know, he thought. It would be so easy. They were climbing higher and his chance was now.
Running as quickly and quietly as he could, he reached the top before they were even close. Snickering, he crouched low to the ground and waited for the first set of hands to reach the top.
Dawson grunted. How could Jen be ahead of them?! She was such a girly-girl. Had she been practicing mountain climbing or something?
When she was about three feet from the top, at least eight feet ahead of Dawson and Joey, she turned and smiled. "I loved going to the sports arena in Manhattan. The rock wall was awesome there!" Then she continued her climb and Dawson sighed.
He turned to look at Joey. She was huffing and puffing, too. Thank god he wasn't the only one who was out of shape.
Suddenly a scream pierced through the dusk sky. A moment later Jen went flying by them, headed towards the ground. Dawson cringed as he heard the cracking of bones when she hit. Joey screamed and struggled to hold on herself.
They tried to keep calm and make their descent as quickly as possible. Pacey peered over the edge and tried to bite back laugh. The scene was priceless. Jen sprawled out on the ground. Her lifeless eyes stared up at him, her mouth twisted in a scream of fear and pain. What a fantastic night!
