Josephine Potter walked into the crowded Frat house. She searched for her friends, but didn't see them. Joey was surrounded by more than five dozen drunken strangers.

Amidst the crowd, however, was a face she recognized. Joey couldn't place him, but he definitely looked familiar.

He had short, dark hair and bright, green eyes. His shoulders were broad and so was his smile. Joey couldn't deny that he was indeed very attractive.

*That's why you're here. To meet guys,* Joey reminded herself. She had just broken up with her boyfriend of two and a half years.

Dawson Leery. The name made her cringe. She had found him in bed with another girl. At first she had been devastated, but soon realized she didn't want him anymore anyway. Long distance relationships were just too hard.

Joey couldn't help but feel hurt though. She had been in love with Dawson for a very long time. And they had been best friends for even longer. She was convinced that they were soul mates.

But after they graduated and Dawson made no attempt to propose marriage, she was furious. He explained that he wanted to slow down. *Yeah, as soon as you realized that you were a babe. You want to turn around and screw other girls.* Joey shook her head. This was now going to be a Dawson-free night.

Joey focused her attention on the semi-stranger. His face became more and more familiar. Then the name came to her. *Pacey Witter!*

Pacey had moved away when he was a junior in high school. His father was offered a job as a detective in Boston. Pacey had kept in touch, giving Dawson and Joey great details about his new home, his new friends, and his new life. Their letters had not been as exciting. They were so wrapped up in each other they forgot all about Pacey. Their letters became short and impersonal and eventually Pacey just stopped writing.

Now she wished he had written more often. In high school she considered him a slug. The lowest of the low. Definitely not attractive. She looked him up and down. He had turned into a real babe. Instead of being too tall and too thin, he was muscular and just the right height. He no longer had a baby face and Joey could tell, even from a distance, that he had been working out.

She started towards him, but he turned abruptly towards the Karaoke table. Joey stopped to see two more guys join him to pick out a song. As they approached the microphone it became obvious that the three of them were quite popular. Cat calls and screams rang out as they stood in front of the crowd.

Joey tried to read to cover of the CD one of the guys held up. The Blues Brothers. Then, one bye one, they spoke their names into the mic.

A tall, handsome, African American said, "Jason!"

The shorter blonde said, "Tim!"

Pacey grabbed the mic and almost fell over. "Pacey! You know you want me." At that a few girls screamed. Joey noticed Pacey looked more than a little tipsy. "And when our powers combine, we are.....THE BLUES BROTHERS!!!!"

Jason grabbed the mic from a hysterical Pacey and began to sing in a smooth, deep voice.

"Without a warning. You broke my heart.

You took it, darlin! And you tore it apart.

You left me sittin! In the dark cryin.

You said your love. For me was dyin.

I'm beggin ya, baby. Baby, please.

I'm beggin ya, baby! Baby, please.

Turn on the light!

Let it shine on me!

Turn on your love light!

Let it shine on me!

Let it shine, shine, shine. Let it shine!!!"

A sax began to play and Joey watched the three sway and dance to the music. Pacey was beginning to look more and more out of touch with the real world as the seconds went by. He seemed as if he was unaware that a large crowd of people were watching him. Joey had always remembered more of a straight-arrow Pacey. One who would never get drunk.

Then Pacey did something Joey didn't expect. He pulled a harmonica from his pocket and began to play. He was perfectly in time with the music. She was impressed.

He stopped suddenly and Tim began to sing.

"I get a little lonely.

In the middle of the night.

I need you darlin.

To make things alright."

Jason started again.

"Come on, baby!

Come on please!

Come on, baby!

Baby, please!"

Then Pacey grabbed the micrphone.

"Turn on li-ight!

Let it shine on me.

Turn on your love li-ight!

Let it shine on me!"

The three boys continued with their song until it was obvious the end was soon to come. Pacey was a hit. The crowd cheered and yelled every time he approached the mic. Pacey was the one to hold the last note and he pulled it off perfectly. Joey clapped until her hands hurt.

It seemed, though, that Pacey had one final thing to add. "Love light. The Blues Brothers."

Then he passed out.
