Bernard Epaud: Guitar and voice

Born and raised in France, Bernard was attracted to music early in his life. Growing up, Bernard played guitar with various groups in Paris. During the early 80's, Bernard moved forward in developing his instrumental techniques, by studying under jazz improvisationalist Pierre Cullaz in Paris.

This became a turning point in Bernard's musical career, inspiring him to begin studying classical and contemporary music.Bernard subsequently emigrated to Quebec and involved in music at University of Montreal. Graduating in 1989 with a degree in technical scoring, he pursued his studies by completing a masters degree in composition with Michel Longtin.

Bernard was honored with several awards, including one from the Centre for Cultural and Creative Activities in Quebec. In 1989 he founded the Edena group, bringing together sculpture, theatre and music. The goal of Edena was to integrate the three disciplines and unify a new spirit of expression. The simetry was a resounding success with several major performances in Montreal. Bernard Epaud's strenght today, is linked to his particular fascination for contemporary and electro-acoutic music. In 1995, he founded Katjar, which was inspired by diffrent musical currents such as jazz, Arab, Spanish and Latin music as well as contemporary expressions.



Martin St-Pierre: Electric MIDI Violin

Martin is a music graduate with a Masters Degree from the University of Montreal. Following his tenure at Universityof Montreal, Martin turned his concentration toward jazz and contemporary music. He actively pursued his interest sthrough collaborations with Radio Canada along with prestigious organizations such as the '' Nouvel Ensemble Moderne '' under the direction of Lorraine Vaillancourt.
His experience includes work with L'IRCAM in Paris under the supervision of composer,Jonathan Harvey . He has collaborated on soundtrack recordings for numerous projects at Victor Studio.
Martin has worked and played on several representations for the Theatre Du Nouveau Monde. Presently Martin is an active performer with several ensembles and orchestras including theSherbrooke Symphony Orchestra, Laval Symphony, The Isles Philharmonic and the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne.

His interests are formally linked to conducting . Martin has completed a stage as conductor with the Pierre Monteux School in Hancock, Maine. Along with Martin's many activities, he also is a full member of the contemporary music group, Edena , a creative vehicle for musical discourse and experimentation in collaboration with Edena's Composer, Bernard Epaud.In 1996 Martin was brought into the fold of the Cirque Du Soleil for the Quidam tour of U.S.during one year and half.



Sandra Wong: Keyboards, voice and percussions

Bachelor degree in classical piano. She has participated in many piano festivals and concours while playing in rock-roll bands, learning classical ballet, jazz and folk dances.Since 1987, she specialize in Balinese dance and music. With the help of the Canada Council for the Arts and the Quebec Council for the Arts, she was able to perfect her art in Bali, Indonesia. Since, she has been touring professionally as a musician for the shadow puppet theater with one of Bali's greatest dalang, I Wayan Wija and other genres of Balinese ensemble, as well as a traditional Balinese dancer, in Bali, the USA and Canada.
Since 1989, she's been performing and collaborating with composer Michel Smith in "Le Disque vert et ses clartés" and a tour with "Seuls" from the theater company "Le Carton" (as a choregrapher, dancer and actor).

In sping 2000, she joins the band Katjar as pianist, percussionist, singer and composer.


Charles Duquette: Percussions

Charles is a music graduate with a bachelor in classical percussions from the University of Montreal. He is presently completing a Master degree at the same university with the teacher Julien Gegoire. Very involved in the classical and contemporary music scene, he actively pursued his interest through collaborations with prestigious organizations such as the '' Nouvel Ensemble Moderne '' and the " l'Atelier de Musique Contemporaine de l'UdeM" under the direction of Lorraine Vaillancourt.
He is a member of the University of Montreal Orchestra under the direction of Jean-François Rivest. He is perfoming in solo as well as with other ensembles.
Charles is teaching percussions in different schools for a few years. In the summer 2000. he joints the band Katjar.
