People in Kathmandu dedicate a lot of time to keeping the God Bairab in good spirits. He is the fearful version of Shiva, the Hindu Ueber-God and known to destroy whole swaths of land if he's having a bad hair day. With all those devotees constantly feeding him by sticking cooked rice and all sorts of foods to the stone hands of his big statue, however, he has no reason to get upset. (Though I would surely get annoyed if someone threw water at my face in an attempt to quench my thirst.)
Die Menschen in Kathmandu verbringen viel Zeit damit, den Gott Bairab bei Laune zu halten. Er ist die gefuerchtete Version von Shiva, dem Gott der Hindus und dafuer beruechtigt, ganze Landstriche zu verwuesten, wenn ihm danach ist. Da sich die Glaeubigen jedoch rund um die Uhr fuer sein leibliches Wohl sorgen, ist er viel zu satt um einen anstaendigen Wutanfall zu bekommen. (Obwohl ich ganz sicher mein Laserschwert zuecken wuerde, wenn mir fremde Leute Reis in die Hand kleben und Wasser ins Gesicht schuetten wuerden.)
