The House of His Dreams

A real estate developer spent 30 years wreaking havoc on the coast of California by bribing inspectors to approve houses that should never have been built. His earthly claim to fame, nicknamed Mudslide Village, was a development where hundreds of shoddy luxury houses slid into the Pacific Ocean during mudslides caused by El Niņo. While he never really thought what he was doing was anything other than good business practices, nevertheless, when he, died, he was a little worried about where he might end up.

Just after the surgeon said "We've lost him!" he was relieved to awaken floating up to heaven, where he was greeted by St. Peter who was assigning houses to the new arrivals. Much to his surprise, heaven looked a lot like earth, with beautiful trees, birds, snowcapped mountains, mountain sheep, hillsides, and restful valleys. St. Peter escorted the developer to his new home which was located on a 10,000 acre estate overlooking a beautiful deep valley that seemed to go on and on for miles.

"What a view! The valley seems endless. Is that Earth down there?" asked the developer. "Er, ah... no, it's just a deep valley," said St. Peter, hesitatingly.

"What valley?" asked the developer.

"Uh, actually..." said St. Peter. "It's Hell."

"Oh, okay. Just as long as it's far far away," replied the developer. "Oh, yes! It's far away." said St. Peter. "It's 40,000 miles straight down that hill."

Turning again to his house, the developer said "This whole setting. It looks lovely, and somehow familiar. Did God build my house from my dreams?"

"Yes sir!" said St. Peter. "In fact, God used the plans from your last construction project."
