GROOMING TOOLS NEEDED:
Rubber Currycomb Dandybrush OR a Stiff Bristled Brush Soft Bristled Brush Mane and Tail Brush Mane and Tail Conditioner or Detangler Hoofpick Flyspray Small Sponge *****************************************************************************************
1. Use the currycomb and curry the entire body except the face. Curry in a circular motion, pressing hard to loosen up the dirt and dead hair. 2. Now take the stiff brush and brush off the dirt and dead hair. You should brush in a downward motion at a right angle. 3. Spray some detangler or conditioner on the mane and tail. Use the mane and tail brush to brush the mane, forelock, and tail. Brush the tail gently, so you don't pull out any hairs. 4. Now, take the soft bristled brush and gently brush the face. Use the small sponge dampened with water to clean the nose, eyes, ears, and mouth. 5. Use a different sponge to clean under the tail. 6. Now it's time to pick the hooves. Using the hoofpick, pick out all of the dirt, mud, manure, and rocks. You should do this often, just imagine having manure in your shoes all day! :-) 7. Spray some fly spray on your horse to help keep the flys away. 8. For horses with pink or white noses, put a little sunscreen on it so their noses don't get burned.
Remember; a good grooming should take at least 20 minutes! |
