| Katie's Online Report of Lou Marchant How does this site compare to others in this category? One of the sites that I found to compare my site to were that of Karen Bishop @http://dlevasseur.edchosting.com/practicum/index.html. Karen Bishop is a Sociology teacher a Porterville College. I feel that my site was ok. A little rough around the edges compared to Ms. Bishop's site. Another site that I look at was that of Frances Carrera another teacher at the college. @http://www.portervillecollegeonline.com/~infsp053/snodgrass/carrera/index.htm. I feel that my site ran more along the lines as this one. Very simple but it was right to the point. The lines are clean and it is easy to navigate. Is the homepage enticing? Yes, I do think that the homepage is enticing. It is simple, easy to navigate and gives a face to whom the site belongs to. That makes the site more personal so that the person looking for the information has a face to identify with. Is the web site consistent from page to page? The site is consistent from page to page because all of the navigation is located in the same area. The color scheme flows from page to page. Also the font style is consistent. What is there about the content that with bring browsers back? The content in the web site that I designed with bring browsers back because it is informative, easy to read, and consistent from page to page. Can users easily contact the web site client via the page? The web site client is easily contacted because all of the information needed to contact them is on the site. How does the web site provide the inclusion of timely and current information? The web site will have to be updated according to the changes made either by year or semester. How can readers interact? The readers are able to interact thru the email and working links. Have a form or explain why you don't? I did not put a form with my site because most of the forms required for my client are located either at Porterville College itself or online thru the college. Description of my client Lou Marchant is the Program Manager for Porterville College. His goal was to have a site that would list his duties at the college, give a personal look to who Lou is, and valuable information for incoming students. Description of the project The project is very simple. It has clean lines and is easy to navigate. The information provided is put in simple terms. I set the sight of for first time surfers. One of the biggest problems I had was getting the information I needed for the site. Both Lou and I were kind of lost at first. But once I figured out the right things to ask it went smooth as silk. Design Elements I went with design elements that are strong and bold. I choose to do that because of Lou's personality. He is a go getter kind of person. I wanted the site to more on the masculine side. Web Style Guide By creating the mission it will be able to support the site by giving a statement in which to build on. By stating that the mission for Lou's web site is to reach out to new and continuing students to help give them the information and time they need to make their academic career at Porterville College a positive and enriching experience. I was able to give the information that both incoming and continuing students will find helpful. The immediate goals for this site are as follows. 1. To have information for the new students. 2. To give information that is easy to access. 3. To have a strong foundation. The long-term goals for this site are as follow. 1. To be able to add some more of Lou's responsibilities. 2. To be able to incorporate more of what is on the PC site. The web-related strategies I used are that I made the site easy to read. The navigation on the site is located down the left had side of the page, to make it easy to locate. All of the links work. Each page is colored the same so the site flows from page to page with out any interruptions. I will measure the success of my site by how my client likes it and any feed back given |
