I. Introduction to
Lesson:

B. Purpose: For students to try to determine what the characters meant when they
made specific statements.
II. Objectives: Students will conclude meaning of quotes from book.
III. Procedures
A. Materials Needed: copy of the book The Outsiders, reading guide, overhead projector and overhead markers, handouts of activity nine.
B. Anticipatory Set: Teacher will begin class by collecting both parts of activity eight.
C. Lesson Activities: Class will begin with teacher collecting both parts of activity eight. When all papers have been collected plot log (see lesson one) for chapter eleven will be completed. Once plot log has been completed teacher will read aloud, as students follow along in their books, chapter twelve stopping for any questions or unfamiliar words. When chapter twelve has been completed reading guide questions for that chapter will be discussed and plot log will be completed.
D. Culminating Activity: In the next class the unit test for the book will be given. There will be true/false, multiple choice, short answer, sequence of events, and a short writing section. No notes, activities, plot logs, or anything else may be referred to during the test. Students should review any notes, plot logs, unfamiliar chapters, and any activities that have been handed back in preparation. Before the test, all plot logs and any late activities will be collected.
IV. Closure: Teacher will answer any questions students may have about test, activities,
happenings of
book, plot logs, or anything else.
