My Awards
As many people already know, I enter the PTSA contest every year.  PTSA is a national organization to help unite Parents, Teachers, and Students together.  Every year, they hold a contest for any student that would like to enter any of their artwork.  Once judged at the school level, it goes on to district level, then to state and first winners are then transfered to national level.  In 5th grade, there was a career day at my school.  A photographer came to talk to use and I became very interested at that point.  The same year, for Christmas, I asked for my own camera.  I actually wanted just a point-and-shoot camera.  Unexpectedly, I was given a manual SLR Pentex K1000 camrera.  (I was a little disapointed)  The next summer, my mom signed me up for a photography summer school class .  I found the darkroom very interesting.  For an assignment, I was supposed to take a picture of something that told a story.  My mom took me to Lake Harriet in Minneapolis to use up my role of film.  My mom pointed out this little girl.  Her dad was pumping the water pump.  When I developed the film at class, I found that the black and white film made the picture even more interesting.  I continued to experiment with my camera.  I ended up entering this photograph of the girl into the PTSA contest for the first time.  I was surprised to find that I got 1st place at state and 2nd at the national level.  The next year, I entered a picture of a little boy at a pow-wow festival in Shakopee, MN.  I went to this pow-wow festival specifically to take pictures.  After I entered it in the contest, I found that it was placed 1st place at state again.  The third year, I entered a picture of another little boy in Southern France.  My family traveled to Nice, France and other area wround there.  I was determined to find another year's winner.  I came across this boy at a bakey.  I quick snapped the picture before his mother came out-angry at me.  I entered it in the same contest and recieved first place at state and 5th at the national level.  This year, I just entered a picture of an old man in New Zealand.  I am placed 1st at state (yes...again) and is currently on the way to national judging.  I have also entered my photography into the Minnesota State Fair a couple times.  Each time getting 1st place in all of the artwork entered for my age.  These are all of the competitions I have been in, and have, well, suceeded in all of them.  I hope to be a photographer and maybe even a scholership to go to college for photography.  But we'll see what happens...
