Why Florence?
Florence Background Navigation
Florence is the capital of the region of Tuscany, on Italy's northwest coast.  It is home to 461,000 people.  There are 57,000 students who study at the University of Florence- that's more than one out of every ten people in the city!  For centuries this Tuscan town has been considered the cultural center of Western Civilization.

~You Can Help!
Florence has been a center of influence in areas ranging from art to thought.  Tracing its roots back to 1321, the University of Florence has a long standing tradition of excellence and the free exchange of ideas.  Additionally, because of its status as a destination, Florence attracts college students from all over the world.

It is a commonly held belief that Italy is a Christian country, but actually most Italians are only Catholic in name.  As a result of post-modern thought, many Italians, particularly college students, are atheists (disbelief in the existence of God), nihilists (literally, means belief in nothing) or humanists (belief that man is the measure of all things).

Current Ministry
Today the ministry in Italy is beginning to flourish.  We have four campus teams (in Florence, Pisa, Rome and Salerno) and staff that serve in the National Office in Florence.  The main ministry focuses are university ministry and family ministry (partnering with churches to reach the whole family).

I will continue to be a part of the university college ministry as I was this past year.  Here I will be working with a team to reach the over 57,000 students at the University of Florence.  Despite the realities of the hard spiritual atmostphere in Italy, the Lord is opending hearts as over 40 students have accepted Christ within Italy in the past year!

This year many students were able to hear the truth of Christ through outreaches, a bi-weekly Bible Study and through personal relationships.
