Before Caraway Cuddle Bunnies I had only one rabbit that I had bought in 2001. She is a Mini Lop Rabbit |

My first rabbit was Petunia. I had her about 4 months before I decided to raise rabbits as an SAE (Supervised Agricltural Experiance) for my high school FFA (Future Farmers of America now known as the National FFA) chapter. I contacted a local Mini Rex breeder and was hooked automatically to the breed and its velvet-like fur texture. I bought my first breeding pair form him, two broken castors. I bred them that summer and my first kindle of 5 was born on July 3rd. I started with a simple homemade hutch and have worked my way up to a rabbitry (cages surrounded by a building). I now have around 45 rabbits with does kindling (giving birth) each week so the number is steadily rising. I attended my first show on October 4th, 2002 and won 2 BOVs (Best of Variety) I have increased my rabbit quality dramatically and I hope to go far in the FFA with my SAE project which will last throughout my high school career. |
