Okay, I'll admit it... I've been wrong about some of my other Presidential picks...
But
I truly feel that Bill Bradley is one of the better choices when looking
at the
other
guys trying to be the proverbial leader of our country.
Here is what I think about what Mr. Bradley is proposing:
Health
Care
It
sounds to me as if he wants everyone to have it. That's fine and
dandy with me
because
after I get out of college, I'm going to earn enough for my own. What
he
wants to do with health care doesn't really effect me now.
Children
in Poverty
This
whole topic I'm kind of skeptical of. I know there are some small
families
who
do not make enough money to make ends meet even if they try, but
from
my own experiences, I just see those who have too many children.
I
think those people should stop having kids...are they that stupid that
they
can't
see that their children are suffering?
Mr.
Bradley wants to be everyone's friend now because he's running
for
president. So, he wants all children to be taken care of now.
Nice idea,
but
I'd like more details of how this would work.
***PROCHOICE***
Prochoice...big
reason why I like him. It's my body, it's my decision.
Taxes
He
wants taxes to depend on how much you make. (So the rich pay more
and
the poor pay less.) Currently, I believe this is a fair idea.
Of
course, when I get out of school and start making money, I will be totally
against
this
entirely - I work hard, I should get to keep it.
Social
Security
He
believes if we sustain good economic growth over a long period of time,
social
security will take care of itself.
This
seems a little quixotic to me, but an overall nice idea. I would
like
more
details. ( I know I keep saying that and no politician while campaigning
will
give details, but a gal can still dream.)
Of
course, my overall opinion is if we stopped giving social security money
to
people
who never contribute to it, we wouldn't have a problem with the finances
in
it. Why give to people who are never going to make a positive
contribution
to this world? If you are offended by this statement, you're the
same
person who gets offended with how the government treats Cuban
refugees
by spraying them with hoses... GET

Education
He
wants to improve education by holding teachers and principals responsible.
He
also wants more technology in schools.
Sounds good to me.
What I think of Mr. Bradley:
Mr.
Bradley, in my opinion after hearing him speak at Eckerd College, is an
opinionated
individual who speaks his mind in most cases. I think he is
holding
out on us with these proposals.
I had
a chance to speak with him after the speech he gave and I believe for the
first
time in my life, I may have come in contact with a person who was
more
aggressive,
competitive, and determined than myself.
Oh...and
besides the point that Michael Jordan, Phil Jackson, and a bunch of
other
people support him.
And
for all those people out there who thought Ronald Reagan, the actor,
was
such a good president...
Why
not give a professional athlete the shot at it?
