Volleyball: Berry Trio Honored as NAIA All-American Scholar-Athletes

     MOUNT BERRY, GA….As a capstone on a winning season, three of Berry’s junior volleyball players were honored as NAIA All-American Scholar Athletes. Molly Cline, Rachel Moreau, and Amanda Stiefel received the NAIA’s top honor for scholar-athletes.

     Stiefel, a Fort Payne, Ala., native, helped lead the Lady Vikes to a 28-12 overall mark for the 2005 season. As an outside hitter, she led the team offensively with 3.24 kills per game and 0.54 service aces per game. The versatile player also led the team defensively with 4.29 digs per game. Her impressive statistics also garnered her the honor of being the first player in Berry’s volleyball history to be named an Honorable Mention All-American.

     Cline, a native of Oviedo, Fla., served as the team’s libero for her third straight year. Excelling as a defensive specialist, Cline recorded 3.85 digs per game, with a season total of 523 digs.

     Moreau is not only an asset to the Vikings in the classroom as biochemistry major, but also on the court as an outside hitter and setter. For the 2005 season, she averaged 4.54 assists per game, with a total of 509 assists. She also averaged 2.11 digs per game and recorded a total of 38 blocks.

     The Vikings finished the 2005 season with a 28-12 overall record and ranked second in both the Southern States Athletic Conference and in NAIA Region XIII.
