If I Could

If I had my life to live over

I’ll tell you exactly what I’d do

I’d take back all unkind words I’d said

And ease the pain I put some through

I would set some higher goals for  life

I’d try for new accomplishments

And rid myself of what held me back

To have made my life content

If I had known how short life could be

I’d have spent more time with those I loved

Whose life is over here on earth

Their spirits with our Lord above

And there are some things I wouldn't  change

Although they didn't go as planned

As to why I wouldn't change them..

Well I think you'll understand

I can’t say I wouldn’t have married

Because the love ran deep and far

And if he hadn’t been their dad

My kids would not be who they are

There are many things I would not change

Experiences I don’t consider wrong

For if it weren't for trials and tribulations

My heart wouldn’t be this strong

So I can’t go back and change things

It’s for the future I must plan

For mistakes are part of living

And have been since the world began
