Whole Wheat
Dog Treats
I’ve tried out several recipes, and this one works
the best. (Bailey really liked testing all those recipes!) Use a food processor
for quick mixing, and whichever cookie cutters your dog prefers. A variety of
sizes is nice—so you have big treats for when they’re extra good,
and small ones for when they’re
just so-so.
2 1/2 cups whole
wheat flour
1/4 cup regular wheat germ
1/2 cup instant non-fat soy milk powder
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
6 tbs. corn oil margarine
1 egg substitute (flax seed glop works well), beaten
1 tbs. molasses
1/2 cup ice water
Combine flour, wheat germ, dry milk and garlic salt. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles cornmeal. Stir in egg substitute and molasses. Add enough water so that mixture forms a ball. Roll dough out on a floured board to a thickness of 1/4". Cut into shapes with a cookie cutter and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake in a 375F. oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool.
