Flaxen Hummus
From Veggie Life magazine

2 tablespoons ground flaxseed
1/4 cup warm water
2 cups cooked garbanzo beans or 1 15 –ounce can, drained
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons tahini
2 cloves garlic, shopped
1 to 2 tablespoons tamari or Bragg Liquid Aminos*
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
Pinch cayenne pepper
Pinch black pepper

In a small bowl, combine ground flaxseed and water and let soak 10 minutes. In a food processor, combine beans, lemon juice, tahini, garlic, tamari, cumin, cayenne, pepper, and soaked seeds. Process until smooth.


*If you don’t have tamari or Braggs on hand, you may substitute soy sauce or 1/2 teaspoon salt.
