It's All About Me!

Hello, welcome to my "It's All About Me" webpage. As a mother of six and countless other teens that pass through my doors at home, I have learned the value of the adolescent perspective on life. Even in my classroom; my student's curiosity, liveliness, and joy inspires me on a daily basis to find ways to engage them in learning about the exciting world of literature and non-fiction. Their creativity and insight on the various projects they invest their time in has been phenomenal.

This year, my AP Language and Composition class not only focused on rhetoric and an author's use of language but what it means to live out the American Dream and Individualism. They learned what it means to “March to the beat of your own drum” (Thoreau) and the value of “Self-Reliance” (Emerson). The most creative adventure was the Macbeth project. I never knew how crazy my students could be and still learn valuable information. They did parodies, puppet shows, and soliloquies of the story of Macbeth, all in a modern version. It was amazing. Last but not least, we did a research project on controversial issues. My students can certainly be opinionated.

This has been an enjoyable year and a learning experience for me as well. Thank you AP students for making this year exciting and rewarding for me. I will never forget you guys!
