SEPARATION
Part 2
Disclaimer: see part one. :-)
Four weeks had gone by and they still had not heard from Voyager. Chakotay was starting to despair. He missed Tom desperately.
Their lives now consisted of hunting spiders, avoiding aliens and trying to figure out a way to get home. Noss was teaching them how to survive on the harsh desert planet, and just a few days ago they had to shut down the doctor to conserve power in case they needed him in an emergency.
Chakotay brought his attention back to the task at hand. Spider hunting. These were the biggest, ugliest spiders he had ever seen. It was all he could do to choke them down at night. Thankfully Noss was a wonderful cook and had a few different ways to prepare them.
Taking a break Chakotay sat down on a rock and swiped the sweat off his brow. He basked in the sun for a few moments enjoying the heat the sun was sending down. Steadying his breathing to almost a meditative state Chakotay began to think about Tom. *Gods, four weeks,* he thought. He feared that Tom would think he abandoned him. Both his lover and counsellor gone in one fell sweep. Chakotay sent a little pray to the spirits to look after Tom for him.
*******************************************************
Tom sat at the conn wondering why the shuttle had not returned yet. Finally not being able to take it anymore Tom swivelled around in his chair to face the Captain "Have you heard anything from the shuttle yet?"
Kathryn frowned, she had been so busy with the maintenance that the shuttle craft had momentarily slipped her mind. "Voyager to shuttle craft Andreas." When there was no reply she spoke again, "Voyager to shuttle craft Andreas please respond." Again getting no reply she continued, "Janeway to Chakotay, respond. Tuvok can you hear me?"
Tom's stomach began to knot up with fear when the comm line remained silent.
Janeway turned to Harry, "Mr Kim what are the long range sensors picking up?"
Harry punched in a few commands then looked up at his Captain. "The shuttle left the asteroid a while ago, I've followed their warp trail to an anomaly about 3 light years away."
"Tom lay in a course and take us there."
Tom punched in the coordinates and brought the ship quickly to the anomaly. Reducing speed the ship suddenly lurched as it was caught in what felt like a tractor beam dragging them into the vortex.
The ship began to shudder as it was pulled deeper into the vortex.
Janeway started to bark out orders, "Go to warp."
"A stable warp field can't be formed," Tom replied back his hands working furiously over the controls.
"We need more powers to the impulse engines then," Janeway ordered to B'Elanna.
"That's still not enough power," she began, "we need to find a way to reverse the gravitational pull."
"Reverse shield polarity," Janeway barked.
The ship immediately stopped going into the sinkhole and was able to move away from the vortex.
"Well I guess we know where the shuttle is now," Kathryn replied warily.
Breathing a sigh of relief Tom was momentarily relieved that the tense situation was over, then it hit him. Chakotay was trapped in there somewhere. It felt like all of Tom's body became numb as he contemplated the danger his lover was in, and the possibility that he would never see him again. *No that is not going to happen.* Tom thought resolutely.
As the Captain, B'Elanna and Harry went to work on the problem of retrieving their missing crewmate, Tom sat at the conn and thought about how much Chakotay meant to him. Chakotay was his rock, his foundation. The steady stream in the torrent of his life. He loved him, needed him, craved him. It was almost like an addiction how much he loved him. Tom couldn't even bring himself to think of what life would be like without him. Tom vowed silently to himself that they were going to find Chakotay and the others, no matter what.
********************************************
Chakotay sat silently on a rock basking in the warmth of the sun, his thoughts miles away with the man he left behind on Voyager. It had been six weeks now since they went missing and he was starting to lose all hope at ever seeing his lover again. Chakotay missed him desperately, missed his looks, scent, and taste. All of his sense were being denied the loving presence of Tom. He hurt so badly, he felt like he was going through withdrawal. It was all he could do from becoming catatonic with depression.
Sitting in the sun with the warmth flowing over his body Chakotay tried to use the heat to sear away the pain of his loneliness. But in the unforgiving heat of the sun all he could feel was the warmth of another body close to his, Tom's body.
As he watched the loving way Noss looked at Tuvok, Chakotay's heart would painfully constrict. He missed Tom so much. Letting his thoughts drift further he began to fear how Tom would react to their separation. He knew that Tom was stronger now then when they began their relationship, but how could he handle losing his lover and counsellor. Chakotay frowned as he thought about the nightmares his lover was still having about his father. He had finally accepted the fact that he was not to blame for the abuse, but it was still taking a long time for him to heal. And he was still recovering from the horrible rape he suffered in prison. He prayed that Tom would turn to Harry and B'Elanna in his time of need.
Chakotay's musings were interrupted when he heard soft footfalls behind him. Turning slightly he saw Tuvok sitting down on a near by rock.
"Commander," Tuvok said when he saw Chakotay looking at him.
Schooling his expressions Chakotay nodded back in welcome. Sitting silently for a while the two men took in the rugged beauty of the vast desert landscape.
Finally Tuvok cleared his throat and asked, "How are you Chakotay?"
Chakotay rubbed his face for a moment while thinking what to tell the Vulcan. Finally deciding he needed to talk about it he said, "Lonely."
"You miss Tom?" the Vulcan stated calmly.
Chakotay nodded his reply turning away from Tuvok. "Voyager has probably given up the search by now."
"Most likely," Tuvok replied.
Chakotay stood up and started to pace back and forth in front of Tuvok. "Dammit, why did this have to happen now? Things were going so great between Tom and I."
"Who knows why these things happen Commander, we just have to learn to adjust."
Chakotay whirled on Tuvok, a bitter anger overcoming him, "Sort of like how you adjusted."
"I don't understand."
"You could have a lover here. It's obvious Noss has feelings for you but you continue to ignore them."
"I am a married man Commander."
"So," Chakotay said bluntly, "We're probably stuck here for ever. Why don't you try to grab a piece of happiness while you can."
Tuvok gazed at Chakotay for a moment and then rose from the rock, walking away from the Commander.
Chakotay sighed, knowing that he was being a jerk to the Vulcan. He just couldn't help it. Why would Tuvok chose to be lonely when he didn't have to be, when Chakotay had no choice but to be. Looking in the direction that Tuvok went Chakotay started to follow. Catching up to the Vulcan he said, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that."
Tuvok appraising the Commander's mood didn't say anything.
"You must really love your wife." Chakotay said sadly.
"I do not feel the emotion love, I am attached' to her."
Chakotay stared at Tuvok in wonder, he was never going to figure him out. Shaking his head he chose not to say anything further.
Walking together the two men went towards the crashed ship that was their new home.
**************************************************
Tom sitting at the conn listened to Harry tell the alien captain to release their ship. An alien vessel had come out of no where and placed a tractor beam on Voyager. Captain Janeway had left the bridge earlier with B'Elanna, trying to figure out ways to rescue their missing crew men, leaving Harry in command. At first Tom bristled, but then he realised that Harry was more than up for the job. If Tom had been in charge he probably would have done something rash by now as he felt his emotions starting to swirl out of control.
Janeway and B'Elanna entered the bridge and Harry shot the Captain a grateful look before updating her on the situation.
Kathryn took over the negotiation and Tom shuddered with fear when he learned that Super-Intendant Yost had plans to close the anomaly so no more of his people would be lost.
Tom watched in slow motion as Janeway argued that they had crew members trapped on the other side and that they were attempting to rescue them, but Yost just laughed at the idea, warning them that they had until the morning before they were going to close it.
Tom's stomach clenched as he felt a wave of dizziness sweep over him. They had to rescue Chakotay and the others by tomorrow or they wouldn't see them again. *Gods, I can't lose him,* Tom thought.
At the end of their shift Harry dragged a reluctant Tom to the mess hall, waiting for B'Elanna to join them. She came rushing in and grabbed a quick meal hurrying over to join them. "Sorry, but I have to get back to work if we're going to find a way to rescue them."
"Have you found anything out about the anomaly?" Tom asked anxiously.
B'Elanna swallowed shaking her head yes, "We found that there is a time discrepancy between our side and theirs. One day here is between 2-3 months there."
Tom's mouth went dry, "Oh my god," he said out loud.
Harry and B'Elanna looked at Tom with concerned expressions across their faces. "Are you ok?" Harry asked.
"Chakotay's thinks he has been gone for almost two months, he probably thinks that we're never coming back for them."
Harry and B'Elanna paled at that thought, it never crossed their minds.
B'Elanna reached out and covered Tom's hand with her own, "Don't worry Tom, we're going to find them."
Tom nodded shakily, fear flowing over him. Tom pushed away his tray, there was no way he could eat now. "Is there anything I can do to help?" Tom asked.
B'Elanna finished her mouthful and pushed her tray away as well, "No I don't think so. The Captain and I are trying to figure out a way to communicate with the shuttle, and we will have to see where to go from there."
Sighing Tom said, "If you find out anything promise you'll comm me?"
"I promise," B'Elanna replied as she stood up. "Sorry but I have to run. Keep the faith Tom, it will all work out. Bye Harry."
Harry and Tom watched as B'Elanna left as quickly as she came in. Harry turned to Tom and said, "I think I'm going to go see what I can do to help, why don't you go try to get some sleep."
Tom agreed knowing that sleep was probably impossible.
*******************************************************
Chakotay looked up from his musings when Noss came rushing into the ship with an obviously injured Tuvok. Reaching over to the doctor's mobile emitter Chakotay activated the doctor who immediately sprang into action.
While working on the injured man the doctor asked, "How long have I been down?"
"About two months."
"Two months!" the doctor repeated shocked, "Have we heard anything from Voyager?"
"No."
The doctor shook his head with dismay and continued to work over Tuvok. "Why has Voyager not contacted us yet?"
"Their probably light years away from here now," Chakotay said trying to keep his raging emotions under control.
"I refuse to believe they would leave with out us."
"Believe it," Chakotay stated bluntly rising when he saw the Vulcan coming around. Leaving the ship he went and sat outside, needing to be by himself. His show of blunt acceptance that Voyager was not coming back for them a deep wound on his soul. Secretly he had been fantasising what would happen when they were returned home, how he would pull Tom into his arms and never be parted from him again. How he would ask the younger man to marry him and stay with him forever.
Chakotay let out a wistful sigh, letting himself be lost in the fantasy.
******************************************************
"Captain, I think I found a way to rescue them," B'Elanna said as she burst into Kathryn's Ready Room.
"How?" Kathy asked excitedly.
"If we can send them a message to be in a certain spot of the shuttle craft we can boost their signals and beam them back on board."
"When can we send the message?"
"We should be ready with in the hour."
"Excellent B'Elanna. Make sure everything is ready. I'll send the message shortly."
B'Elanna nodded and turned to leave when Tom's frantic voice came over the Captain's comm badge. "Captain the aliens are trying to close the anomaly now."
Janeway leapt up from he chair and raced onto the bridge, looking at the pale, shaking figure of Tom she said. "Harry open hailing frequencies," when Harry nodded Kathryn said, "This is Captain Janeway of the USS Starship Voyager, please stop your procedure we are trying to rescue crew members from the anomaly."
Kathryn waited for a reply, when there was none she turned to B'Elanna, "How long until the anomaly closes?"
"About a half an hour."
"We better put our rescue plan in motion now then."
B'Elanna nodded and started to furiously punch commands into her computer panel. Without pausing her work she said to Janeway, "Send the message now."
Kathryn walked over to Harry's station and sent the message praying that her missing crew would receive it.
******************************************************
A few days after the attack on Tuvok they all decided that they needed to go back to the shuttle craft and retrieve some parts to boost Noss' shielding around her ship. Making the long journey back they all kept an eye out for the threat of alien attack.
When they finally reached the shuttle they entered and began to salvage several parts. Tuvok went over to the communications array and noticed a message coming in, "Commander there appears to be a message."
Chakotay's heart leapt, but he firmly placed the wildly beating organ under control, there was no telling if the message was from Voyager. Walking over to the communications panel he said, "Play the message."
Tuvok enter the commands into the panel and a low tone came over the comm. Tuvok raised and eyebrow and looked at the Commander who had a look of disappointment on his face. Tuvok listened carefully to the message, calling Chakotay back when he turned to leave, "Commander please if you will give me a moment."
Chakotay turned back to the Vulcan and watched him work over the panel. The tone started to change it was getting higher and faster. Soon he thought he was able to understand what it was saying. All of a sudden Kathryn's voice came over the comm panel. Smiling brightly Chakotay listened to their rescue plan.
******************************************************
Kathryn paced nervously on the bridge. Watching the alien ship try to close the anomaly.
"It's time," B'Elanna said from her station.
Kathryn nodded and placed a reassuring hand on Tom's shoulder, trying to install some of her confidence in the frightened young man. "Harry, energize."
A look of extreme concentration played across Harry's features, finally his face lite up in a huge smile, "We've got them." Harry said triumphantly.
Tom explosively let out the breath he didn't know he was holding.
Janeway started to walk towards the turbolift, "Mr. Paris you're with me."
Tom jumped out of his seat and raced after the Captain. In the turbolift he nervously bounced up and down on his heals, wondering if Chakotay still loved him. When the doors opened Tom silently followed the Captain to the transporter room, hesitant to enter. Slipping in behind the Captain he stood quietly off to one side watching his crew mates welcome each other.
Chakotay stepped off the transporter padd looking towards Tom, the joy he felt momentarily displaced when he saw that Tom was looking down at the floor dejectedly. Nodding his welcome to the Captain he walked over to his lover and placed his hands on Tom's shoulders pulling him close. Chakotay noticed the flicker of surprise as he pulled Tom in for a very deep, very long, very satisfying kiss.
Tom was looking down at the floor not wanting to see the expression on Chakotay's face when he felt hands on his shoulders pulling him forward. Looking up in surprise he saw Chakotay's mouth descending towards his. Tom moaned with relief when Chakotay began to kiss him deeply. Secretly excited that the Big Man still wanted him.
Tuvok, Noss, Kathryn and the doctor watched the scene with amused expressions across their faces.
"Do you think they'll notice if we beam them back to Chakotay's quarters?" Kathryn asked with a big grin.
Tuvok raised an eyebrow, "Probably not."
The doctor added, "They'll probably pass out from lack of oxygen before then."
Kathryn laughed out loud as the two men continue to be wrapped up in themselves, literally. "Ensign beam them to the Commander's quarters."
Tom and Chakotay broke away from their kiss and looked over to the crowd watching them, throwing them all a smile as they disappeared. Materializing in Chakotay's quarters the two lovers started to kiss again. Chakotay reacquainting himself with Tom's taste and scent.
Tom moaned deeply when Chakotay reached down and pulled their hips into alinement, thrilling at the contact along his body.
Chakotay tore his mouth away from Tom's, "Spirits I have missed you so much," he said laying his forehead against Tom's.
Tom held Chakotay close to him not wanting to think about the terrible loneliness his lover had suffered.
"I never want to be apart from you again Tom," Chakotay said in an anguished voice. "I want to be with you always, I want to be your lover, your mate, your husband. Tom will you marry me?"
Tom gasped and stepped away from Chakotay turning from him. His mind was going overboard with what Chakotay had said. *He wants to be with me forever.* he thought to himself, *Can I do it?* Tom chewed at his lower lip for a moment, his mind a whirl of activity. He thought about what it would have been like for him to have been the one lost for over two months. Tom's stomach rebelled at the thought, he could never leave Chakotay. Turning back around to face his lover he looked deep into the mahogany eyes and softly said, "Yes."
Tom stepped back into Chakotay's embrace saying, "I love you so much, I want to be with you forever."
The two men held onto each other for a long time, simply enjoying the contact with each other. Chakotay finally broke the spell when he pulled Tom's head towards his own and fastened his lips on his fianc's.
Breaking away from the kiss Chakotay whooped with joy and swung Tom up into his arms.
Tom broke out into laughter as Chakotay made his way to the bedroom where he dropped Tom onto the bed. "I guess you missed me?" Tom said teasingly as he watched Chakotay starting to strip off his uniform. Tom reached down to lift his own shirt over his head when he felt hands helping him. Smiling he watched as the now naked Commander start to strip him as well.
Chakotay threw that last of their clothing in the corner and brought himself down on the bed on top of Tom. His erection digging into the pilot's.
Tom moaned when he felt the warmth and weight of the Commander settling on top of him, he gasped in pleasure when their erections glided together.
Chakotay brought his mouth down on Tom's and forced his lips open wanting to taste the sweetness inside that he had dreamt of for so long. Thrusting his tongue in Tom's mouth he groaned when Tom began to suck lightly on it. Breaking away from the kiss Chakotay began to kiss patterns over Tom's face, whispering, "Spirits I've miss you."
Running his hands up and down the Commander's back Tom held the older man closer to him, trying to merge their bodies together. Tom arched his back as Chakotay began to nibble on one of his ear. "Oh gods, more," Tom moaned softly.
Chakotay smiled around Tom's ear. Tom's ear lobe was a huge erogenous zone for the pilot and Chakotay loved to tease him for minutes by paying close attention to it. Chakotay broke away for another kiss when the younger man began to shudder in pleasure. Chakotay sometimes thought that he could probably make the younger man come by just playing with this one erogenous zone, someday he planned to find out. But tonight he had to fuck the man before he exploded.
Tom looked up at Chakotay with dilated blue eyes that zeroed in on equally aroused brown ones, panting shallowly he said, "Fuck me," he said in a voice that drove the Commander insane with desire.
Reaching over into the night stand Chakotay grabbed the bottle of lube. Flipping open the cap he spread some on his fingers and nudged Tom's legs apart.
Moaning loudly Tom began to shudder again as the Commander ran his finger up and down the warm crack ever so often dipping a finger in to caress the tight ring of muscles. "Please," Tom begged arching his back, "Fuck me now."
Chakotay looked downinto the lust filled eyes of his lover and started to gently prepare him for penetration. By the time he was up to three fingers Tom was writhing on the bed with pleasure.
Chakotay reached for the lube again and applied a generous amount to his cock, the slickness and the warmth almost enough to bring him off. He held himself in check though, he wanted to come deep inside his fianc. Lifting Tom's legs up to circle his neck he positioned his cock just outside of Tom, and grasping Tom's thighs he whispered, "I love you," as he gently slipped inside his lover.
Tom arched his back off the bed when he felt Chakotay start to enter him. He pushed forward trying to impale himself further on the hard cock.
Chakotay started a slow rhythm that steadily built until he was pounding into the younger man beneath him. He was trying to hold on, wanting Tom to come first. Know that he probably wasn't going to last much longer he reached down and grasped Tom's straining erection and began to pump it in time with his deep thrusts.
Tom let himself be carried away by the intense pleasure his lover was giving to him. He spoke in a soft voice, "More, faster, faster, yes, yes." Tom began to shudder violently as his orgasm swept over him. He came all over his lover's hand, shouting his name.
Chakotay gasped as Tom's ass muscles started to clamp down on his hard cock. Shouting with relief when he finally started to come deep inside his lover's body.
Tom let his legs slip off Chakotay neck as he wrapped them around the Commander. This was Tom's favourite thing to do after sex, he would hold Chakotay as close to his body as possible, letting each other feel the shuddering lassitude that would sweep over each of their bodies.
Burying his face in Tom's neck, Chakotay panted for breath, trying to get his breathing under control. Kissing the side of Tom's sweaty neck Chakotay murmured, "I love you so much."
Tom smiled and held his lover, no fianc, closer planning on their many days to come. Praying that nothing ever again was going to keep them apart.
