Glitter Fairy
by Kathy P
"Doctor to Commander Chakotay," an aggrieved voice
said over Voyager’s comm system.
Chakotay pulled himself up straighter in his chair,
bracing himself for the news. "Go ahead, Doctor."
"He’s escaped. Again." Came the highly insulted
response.
With a deep sigh, Chakotay rose from his chair.
"Understood. Chakotay out."
Glancing over a Kathryn, who was trying,
unsuccessfully, to stifle her wide grin.
"Captain...."
"Permission to leave the bridge granted, Commander.
This time why don’t you stay with him in sick bay,"
Captain Janeway replied laughing.
Moving toward the turbolift with a groan Chakotay
muttered, "Maybe I’ll just tie him to the bed."
Stepping in the lift, he heard her reply just as the
doors were closing. "I’d like to see some pictures of
that, Commander."
Shaking his head, he asked the computer for the
location of the runaway.
The lift doors rolled open on the correct floor and it
didn’t take the Commander long to locate the missing
man.
Stunned crewman stood to the sides of the corridor,
covered in a dusting of gold glitter. Their wide eyes
focused on the tall, crazy blonde man who was
sprinkling glitter over everything in sight.
With another drawn out sigh, Chakotay moved up behind
his lover. "Tom, you have to stop this. Give me the
glitter and let’s go back to sickbay."
It had been a long six hours since the younger man had
struck his head while doing routine maintenance on his
beloved Delta Flyer. The Doctor had insured the
worried Commander that it was just a mild concussion
and that Tom should recover quickly, but with Tom,
nothing seemed to go as planned.
The pilot had gotten it into his head that he was a
fairy of some sort, and had managed to escape from the
sickbay a total of three time now in order to sprinkle
his fairy glitter around.
"I am the glitter fairy," Tom said with glee as he
swung his basket of glitter around. "I will make all
your glitter dreams come true."
The blonde man turned suddenly to look at Chakotay.
Before he knew what hit him, Chakotay had a face full
of glitter.
Brushing the glitter off his face, Chakotay said a
prayer to his ancestors, spared a glare for the
crewman who were starting to snicker at the spectacle,
and reached out to take the basket from the younger
man’s hand.
"Sure you are, Tom. But right now, you’re the glitter
fairy with a concussion," Chakotay said as he put an
arm around his lover’s shoulders.
"Is that why my head hurts so much?" Tom asked
innocently.
"Yes, Tom. Now, let’s go back to the sickbay."
"Ok. Can I have my glitter back?" he asked hopefully.
"Maybe later, babe. I think you’ve fairy dusted
enough people for today."
"Oh, ok."
Chuckling under his breath, Chakotay propelled the
younger man along to sickbay to continue his recovery.
