9 Unit I: This is when students learn about the
scientific method. This will be the basis for the rest of their Science
education. |
| Cells
and Cell Processes |
Grade 9 Unit II: Students learn about how cells function. They participate
in a number of cell labs and a PBL on diagnosis. |
| Human
Body Systems |
Grade
9 Unit III: This is the core basis of the course. Students
participate in a number of PBL's and labs dealing with interaction
of systems within the human body. |
| Reproduction
and Development |
Grade
10 Unit VI: Students will learn about the Reproductive System
through a series of labs from the Cornell Institute of Biology Teachers. |
| Evolution |
Grade
10 Unit IV: The Evolution Unit involves teaching students about
changes in organisms over time. A number of labs and activities are
done by the teacher in the classroom. |
| Genetics |
Grade
10 Unit V: The Genetics Unit involves learning about how traits
are inherited and about the basis of DNA in the determination of traits
and functions in organisms. Online resources are extensive and there
is a manual that accompanies this unit. Labs include DNA structure
as well as a PBL on a genetic disease. |
| Ecology |
Grade
10 Unit VII: The Ecology unit is a major unit on the LE Exam.
Field studies and an Environmental PBL enhance student learning. |
