My Environment, My Health, My Choices: Creek PBL

Biology and the Investigative Process Grade 9 Unit I: This is when students learn about the scientific method. This will be the basis for the rest of their Science education.
Cells and Cell Processes Grade 9 Unit II: Students learn about how cells function. They participate in a number of cell labs and a PBL on diagnosis.
Human Body Systems Grade 9 Unit III: This is the core basis of the course. Students participate in a number of PBL's and labs dealing with interaction of systems within the human body.
Reproduction and Development Grade 10 Unit VI: Students will learn about the Reproductive System through a series of labs from the Cornell Institute of Biology Teachers.
Evolution Grade 10 Unit IV: The Evolution Unit involves teaching students about changes in organisms over time. A number of labs and activities are done by the teacher in the classroom.
Genetics Grade 10 Unit V: The Genetics Unit involves learning about how traits are inherited and about the basis of DNA in the determination of traits and functions in organisms. Online resources are extensive and there is a manual that accompanies this unit. Labs include DNA structure as well as a PBL on a genetic disease.
Ecology Grade 10 Unit VII: The Ecology unit is a major unit on the LE Exam. Field studies and an Environmental PBL enhance student learning.
