To Have and To Hold.....

Wife:

This is the person
on whom my everyday
happiness depends.
What a fool I'd be
to interrupt the steady flow
of satisfactions,
comforts, and delights
I receive from her
by failing to show
appreciation,
the one reward
she most craves.

No, I will continually
assure her that
she is my darling,
the beauteous object
of my admiration and delight,
the girl I'm glad I married.

Husband:

This is the person
on whom my everyday
happiness most depends.
He is the one
who makes me feel secure
as a woman,
established in a home,
fulfilled.
I must make him feel
proud and strong
as a man
by my appreciation
of him,
And I must give him as proof
of this appreciation
such loving attention
as he can receive
from no other woman.
So my mutual appreciation
individually expressed,
a man and a woman
are bound together
in a true marriage
and live happy days
and nights
together.

What is a husband?

He is my secret and I am his.
Someone who takes your heart
and keeps it safely next to his
forever and a day.
He is the only labor-saving devise
that you can cuddle.
He is the person who changes
"I" into "we",
"me" into "us",
and living into loving.
Someone to love and share
all your ups and downs with,
while loving the ups and
wishing they could last forever,
but
also coming through the downs together
still very much in love.
Someone I love so much
that a lifetime
is not long enough
to share with him.
He halves all my troubles and
doubles
all my pleasures
just by being there
when they happen.
He continues to woo
into old age,
realizing that both are still individuals,
everchanging,
with private thoughts,
feelings, and
private silences.
You give yourself to him without strings or conditions.
He gives himself to you without questions or apologies.
He needs you and you need him.
He fell in love, and when the romantic bubble bursts,
continues to love his wife as a person.

A husband is anticipation,
togetherness,
without words
sometimes,
tenderness,
the sun,
a body,
a look,
a touch,
loyalty
ad infinitum.
