Forgotten Kiss of Rose
In
the garden, the sun rises smiling its greeting
Rose turns her face to seek the sun's warmth
The wetness of the dew still on her petals
She is missing the caress of her prince
The warmth of his hands, his touch
She gave, he took, but now he is gone, but where?
Has he forgotten his Rose blooms only for him?
Has he forgotten her petals only open in response to his
love?
She turns away from the sun, feeling cold and alone
Closes her petals tight, and shivers in the shadows
Remembering the kiss, the kiss of the Rose to her prince
Soft, sweet, showing so much affection, so much love
The intensity of the feelings it brought to give
The promise of what it could become
Is this lost? Is this to never be known?
The Rose sighs softly and retreats into her sleep
Summer turns to fall and Rose's petals begin to fade
She does not notice, just sleeps, waiting
Does not notice the nights getting colder
Or feel the frost nipping at her leaves
Or know when her petals fall on the ground
The forgotten kiss of the Rose, forever sleeping
The wind whispers her cry, only a slight sound
"Kiss me. Love me."
But it is gone, lost in the wind as it blows away the
petals
