If you're new to the Contemporary Christian music, check out these links. If you know of another good Christian sites let me know. I'd love to check them out and put them on my page. One of my 8 year old's favorite groups is Jump 5. They're a pop group that appeals to tweens. Not only are Jump 5 a popular Christian group, they are quickly jumping on the mainstream bandwagon while still maintaing their positive influence on our kids. You can hear them on the Lizzie McGuire movie. Way cool! While I was at Lifeway Book Store, I bought a CD and got one free. Because of that, I found out about Nate Sallie. His album, Inside Out, ROCKS! The kids all love it and his songs give a positive message. Click on his name to hear samples from all his songs and I hope you buy his album. Its awesome! You ain't never heard a voice as moving as Nicole C. Mullins! This girl has got it going on (please excuse my laspe of teenage- talk). If you need a spirtual pick-me-up, then you need to listen to "My Redeemer" and "Call on Jesus". Nicole has so much talent and if you don't believe me, you can hear a short clip of "Call on Jesus" at her site. For those of you who like to rock, how about trying on some dc Talk? Right now, they're on a split persuing individual careers, but you can still buy their group albums. And who doesn't love those boy bands? Christian music is proud to present two groups containing some real talented cuties! Plus One and True Vibe out-dance, out-sing, and without a doubt out-praise Nsync and the Backstreet Boys! One of our favorite groups is Mercy Me. Their music is definitly God-inpired. Phew! After all that shaking around, it might be time to sit back and listen to some Praise and Worship music. | I love contemporary christian music and thankfully, we have a local radio station that plays all the latest hits. One of the many positive aspects of Christian music is the influence that it has on our children. Instead of my almost-seven-year-old daughter dancing around the house in a halter top singing "Oops I did it again, I played with your heart, got lost in the game", she's singing "Why don't we shine, shine like crazy". And she's not bearing her belly! Maybe parents just don't realize the impact that music have on youth, or maybe with busy schedules, parents just don't have the time to review what their children are listening to. Whatever the reason, adults can save a lot of time worrying about outside influences if they make sure their children have good role-models. Now, I'm not knocking the good ol' gospel music-especially since my husband's uncle sings in a gospel group. Some people just don't get into that type of music and that's fine. The Bible says to "make a joyful noise unto the Lord" (Psalms 100:1), so I don't think it matters to God if that noise comes from one genre or another, just as long as you're praising Him. What ever type of music you're in, whatever artist you like, there's sure to be a Christian group for you. |
