We see the cube that Janeway, Tuvok, and B'elanna are on. Inside, the collective is busy with a day's work. There are many Borg walking around. Tuvok is one of them. We see through his eyes. It blinks into fuzziness then blinks out. We see B'elanna working at a console. Tuvok walks up to her. "Leiutenant" he says. "I'm fine. The Captain?" she replies. "We were separated." "You have been given a sub-vocal processor." "I can live with it." "We must make our way to the Central Plexus." (Now that's odd, Borg drones don't usually talk to each other) The scene shifts to a head. Captain Janeway's head. A probe like thing is being pushed into her head. It completely goes in and a blueish light comes on on one of her implants.
         On Voyager, things are getting pretty tense. Tom tells Chakotay that it's been too long since they've heard from the away team. The Doc says that their higher brain functions are still operating. Chakotay and Seven are in Astrometrics. They are monitoring the Borg cube. Seven says that it will be capable of transwarp in two hours. Chakotay tells Seven to go see her friends in UZ. Seven says they are not her friends. He tells her to put any differences away. Seven walks into Cargo Bay 2 and steps into her regeneration chamber. She appears in UZ. Korok the Klingon Borg, is giving orders to keep the Borg out of UZ. He stops to talk to Seven. They talk about Axum. (in the last episode, Seven had told Axum that their relationshop was irrelevant.) Back on the Borg cube, Tuvok and B'elanna are making their way to the Central Plexus. They walk through a force field. B'elanna tells Tuvok that they need to make their way to a hatch on the other side of the room. There is a Borg drone working at a console between them and the hatch. Tuvok says he will disable him. He walks over to 'him' and grabs his shoulder. 'He' turns around and  they discover it is Captain Janeway. While Janeway and B'elanna talk about how to get through the hatch, Tuvok seems distracted. Janeway says that his neural supressant must be wearing off. Tuvok tells Janeway that if he succumbs to the collective, he might pose a security risk and that she should deactivate him. She says that without the Doctor, it might kill him. (Oh, so they arn't linked to the hive mind. They have a 'neural supressant') Tuvok hears the collective. The Queen has heard his mind. "Where are the others?" she asks herself.
         In UZ, there are more Borg walking around searching for the people inside. A drone stops and surveys the area. A strange looking person is lurking in the bushes. The Borg spot him with his laser light. He leads him away on a wild-goose chase. The Borg is searching for the fellow when he trips over a carefully concealed string and a log swings down and hits him. We see Axum and another guy watching this. They hear something to their left. Another boobie trap has been set off. It is a net type thing. Inside, they find who else but Seven of Nine. "Leave this one to me" Axum tells the other guy. Seven orders Axum to release her. She does not like this situation at all. Axum takes out a knife of some sort and frees her. She falls out of the net and into his arms. On Voyager, Tom enters the ready room occupied by Chakotay while Janeway is away. He argues with Chakotay over the away team. "This mission isn't worth their lives!" he states. Chakotay reassures him and tells him they will get them back. On the cube, the away team has gained access to the Central Plexus. They walk around in it till they find what they've been looking for. They pull the cover off and inside, is a greenish squareish thing. There are many blocks of green in a 3D shape. (Ok, sorry for the explanation. It's quite hard to explain) Janeway tells B'elanna to download the virus. B'elanna uses her newfound tubules to assimilate the Central Plexus with a virus. Tuvok is still hearing the voices of the collective. He says the name of his daughter and where she was born. He says it's to help him concentrate. Then we see the Queen saying everything Tuvok is; he has succumbed to the Collective. On Voyager, the computer starts beeping at the Doctor. He tells Chakotay that Tuvok's synaptic pathways are degrading. Chakotay tells Tom to move in closer. In the Central Plexus, the download of the virus is complete. Janeway and B'elanna make their way to the exit. Tuvok steps in their way. Janeway tells him that he is Tuvok, and she is his Captain. "Move aside, that's an order." she says. Tuvok tells her to deactivate him now. Janeway is ready to comply but when she moves in to do so, a very strong force field blocks her way. Tuvok says, "I am 3 of 12." The Queen asks Tuvok where they are. He looks around and the Queen sees through his eyes. "The Central Plexus," she mutters. Drones sudennly fill the Central Plexus. Janeway and B'elanna try to escape. B'elanna tries to get by Tuvok, but he is very strong and stops her. Janeway runs around the cube for a minute, but there are drones coming at her from every direction. They finally capture her and lock her up in a chamber that looks like a regerneration chamber with a force field surrounding it. On Voyager, they have moved in close. Harry says there is too much shielding around the cube to get them out. The Borg send out a volley of fire. They penetrate the shields like they weren't even there. In a manner of speaking, they weren't. The Borg have their access codes because Tuvok gave it to them. Voyager lasts for only a minute before their shields are down. Chakotay tells them to back off. Tom says, "We just can't leave them there!" Chakotay says they can't do anything about it. At the Borg Unicomlex the Queen is in distress. "I'm losing voices!" she cries out. "Five...Ten...Hundreds...Thousands!" She opens a box very similar to the one we saw in the Central Plexus. Lights everywhere are blinking out. She turns to a nearby drone and says, "I can't hear you. Why can't I hear you? Comply! You have diconnected from the hive mind. Why?" The drone just stares at her. He tries to lunge at her, but a strong force field stops him. Two drones come from the sides and take him away. "You can't stop us!" he cries.
         In Janeway's chamber like thing, she is being scanned. We go to the Queen and see something is materializing on a pad there. It's Janeway without her implants. "I've modified the transmission. I know how vain humans can be." (Ah, so it's a hologram of Janeway)  says the Queen. They converse. The Queen shows Janeway several Borg vessels with some of the disconnected drones on them. She self-destructs them. The Queen tells Janeway to tell the people of UZ to rejoin the Collective or she will continue blowing up ships. She blames Janeway for the deaths of the Borg that died on the cubes that were destroyed. This doesn't make Janeway happy. On Voyager, there is smoke everywhere. Chakotay is walking around. Seven walks onto the Bridge. Ckakotay tells her to go back to UZ and tell the people there their predicament. The Doc goes with Seven to make modifications to her alcove. In the Cargo bay, the Doc and Seven talk about Axum. He tells her that when she talks about Axum her pupils dialate 2mm. The Doctor clearly looks disappointed that Seven and Axum have a relationship. "Maybe you can meet in real life one day," he says. Seven gets into her alcove and goes to UZ. Inside, Seven finds Axum and they talk. Axum tells Seven that he is located on the edge of fluidic space on the other side of the galaxy. Seven says, "I was hoping that we could meet in the real world someday." (I've forgotten something. I should explain what Seven is wearing in UZ. Not the regular catsuit this time. She is wearing a pinkish shirt that looks quite good on her, regular pants, and her hair is down. Her implants are also missing. I can tell you, she looks stunning.) Seven and Axum walk along in the forest talking about a list they had made together some years ago that entailed the places they would like to visit if they were ever free from the Collective. Axum says they can add fluidic space to that list. They get closer to each other and hold hands. They lean together and start kissing...
         Elsewhere in the forest, two boys are playing tag. A boy is crawling through the bushes and bumps into a leg. Not any leg. The Borg Queen's leg. He looks up in awe. The Queen orders him to stand up. "Comply!" she says. He stands up. "Your one of the machine people aren't you? They said you want to assim...assimi...assim...""Assimilate you."the Queen says, "Yes. It's nothing to be afraid of. You like having friends don't you?" The boy nods."Assimilation brings us all together. So close we can hear each others thoughts." "Is it fun?" asks the boy. "Yes, it is...fun." She goes on to tell him that she was assimilated when she was about his age. "Don't you miss your parents?" he asks. "They are here, with me. I can hear them right now." "Can I talk to my parents?" asks this deluded little boy. "Soon," she says. "But first I want to see more of this place." The boy takes her hand and shows her to the cliff where you can see the whole forest from. "It's pretty, isn't it?" he asks, but the Queen isn't listening. In the Unicomplex, the Queen confronts the holographic Janeway. She says she went to UZ and couldn't see why anyone would want such primitive surroundings to the perfection of the Collective. She shows Kathryn Janeway a diagram of some sort. "Do you recognize it?" she asks Janeway. The good Captain just shakes her head and says, "No." "You should. It's the virus you created with a few modifications. It has the ability to kill everyone with the mutation." "You have no way to release it. Those drones are no longer linked to the hive mind." states Janeway. "I'm prepared to go back to Unimatix Zero and release it myself." She tells Janeway that unless she tells the people of UZ to rejoin the Collective, they will all die. She will spare their lives if the rejoin. On Voyager, they are getting the power back. Shields are at 20% and they have short-range sensors. Just then the lights flicker. "Now what?" asks Tom. Harry announces that the Borg have tapped into their holographic systems. The Doctor them summons Chakotay and Seven to Sickbay. Chakotay and Seven enter sickbay and get a surprised look on their faces. We see Janeway. She flickers a few times and begins talking. She says UZ cannot exist anymore. That the Queen has found a way to destroy them all. She flickers away and the Doctor says, "Well, we did the best we could.""It's not over yet"replies Chakotay mysteriously. "The Captain gave us a direct order!" the Doc says. "Not the order you think she gave." On the Bridge, Harry says a transwarp conduit is opening close by. Tom, who is in command since no one else is there, says, "Evasive maneuvers!" Tom orders. Harry says the sphere is hailing them. On the veiw screen appears Korok the Klingon ex-Borg. He tells Voyager that he is in command of his vessel.
         On Voyager, in the Astrometrics lab, Seven has isolated the frequncy of UZ. On the Bridge, the Borg shere, lead by Korok, and Voyager are preparing to take on the Borg cube where the away team was still trapped. Chakotay and Korok talk to each other on the comm channel. Together, they are going to destroy UZ. In UZ, Axum is telling the inhabitants that they have to wake up from their regeneration cycles because they were going to destroy UZ. Suddenly, the trees, rocks, and all the other stuff in there start to disappear, in a manner of speaking. They turn an orangeish color and go away. Everyone except for Axum leaves. Back on Voyager, the sphere and Voyager are taking on the Borg cube. In Astrometrics, Seven runs out and into Cargo bay 2. She quickly steps into her alcove and steps into the disappearing UZ. She finds Axum overlooking the forest. They say their goodbyes and say they will find each other again. In the Bogr Unicomplex, the Queen notices that the UZ frequency is disappearing. "You call this compromise?"she asks Janeway icily. "I don't compromise with Borg."says Janeway just as stonily. The Queen reaches out to wrap her hand around Janeway's neck, but remembers she is just a hologram. "Computer, initiate self-destruct." On Voyager, Harry says, "They're sheilds are down." Chakotay says, "Beam them off" Just as they beam off, the cube self-destructs. On the transporter pad, we see the Borg forms of: Janeway, Tuvok, and B'elanna. In sickbay, the Doctor says that since they had the neural suppresant, he was able to remove most of their implants. They are now "on the mend", though Tuvok will require more time to heal. Janeway is lying in bed reading a PADD. Seven walks into Sickbay and talks to Janeway. Janeway tries to shift in her bed. "Ouch!" she moans. "I won't be playing hoverball anytime soon." she tells Seven. "If I've ever implied that I've been easy on you these past few years, remind me of today." They talk some more. Seven says, "If I've ever implied that Axum and I were just friends, remind me of today." Janeway nods and Voyager flies into the next season.
