Technical Writing Online
The World Wide Web is a great resource for technical communicators, organizing thousands of websites about many different aspects of technical writing. Below are two websites that are exemplary resources for technical writers:

Eserver: The Accessible Writing Encylopedia
Sort of like the Google for technical writing, Eserver is a nonprofit website that features a variety of different literary collections and content. Most specific to technical writing, Eserver's Technical Communication Library is a great index for almost any subject pertaining to technical writing. On Eserver, search through vast categories of technical writing areas including academic programs, careers, documentation, editing, education, graphic and information design, journals, multimedia, organizations, publishing, rhetoric, science writing, software, style guides, and webpage creation.

Society for Technical Communication (STC)
The Society for Technical Communication is an individual membership organization for professional technical writers, but its website is also a great resource for aspiring technical writers. The website includes not only information about the status of the profession, but also reports on new communication technologies and the latest publications and reports. The STC website features a large academic programs database that catalogues different higher education opportunites for technical writers. Also, each year the STC conducts a salary survey to report on the lastest statistics and figures about professional technical communicators.
