As the Old Year Ends
As the grandfather clock
begins to chime,
To summon the start of a
brand New Year,
I give thanks for the
gifts of the year just ending,
And for family and friends
gathered here.
As glasses are raised in
celebration,
I wonder what this next
year will hold,
Will the summer heat bring
endless drought?
The winter deep snows and
biting cold?
I look to my sons, Hoss,
Adam and Joe,
I hope the year will be
good to my boys,
May they fare well, be
healthy and strong,
And know no sorrows, only joys.
And for all my dear
friends gathered here,
To celebrate, with us, the
turning of the year,
May the months ahead be
pleasant ones,
Filled with happiness and
good cheer.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
