A love of books and a thirst for knowledge... and the book she loves best
is the Bible her mother gave her for Christmas. It was a replacement. The old
one was full of crayoned illustrations and pen markings, dog-eared pages, and a battered cover.
This new one has parallel versions: it makes her feel intellectual. It also
has a soft cover with big pockets, where she stuffs a copy of
the U.S. Constitution, The Little Prince, Elements of Style, and, more
recently, a printed-out picture of someone special to remember to pray for.
She loves her family. She loves her books. She loves her God.
She loves the computer that brings her the ability to create despite her
clumsy human hands, and has brought her some very special friends.
She loves being alive, and nothing can change that.
