These are stories I am presently enjoying. They are usually Works in Progress, so if you like to wait until a fic is finished, I'll move these to The Classics when they are.

07/26 - 24 by Anniepoo98
Holy crap! This fic is a rollicking rollercoaster! In it, we are introduced to Serena from 2012. She is being held captive by Kivar and is told that all of her friends, including her mysterious sister, are dead. It becomes evident early on that she is in with our intrepid gang of Roswellians, with a particular attachment to Kyle. She heads back in time to save Alex Whitman, and has 24 hours to do so, before the serum, with which Kivar has injected her, kills her. I cannot express to you how I inhaled the first four parts of this fic. Kyle is dead in character, and Serena is a heroine you eagerly cheer on. And Kivar...he's just damn scary. He's like Nasedo on evil crack. In his one scene with Nicholas, you could feel Nicholas' fear of him. Yikes! Get thee to the Alien Abyss and read this one. You will NOT be sorry!
07/26 - Souls Twice, Love Once by Angel Parker
A very refreshing take on the end of Season 2 debacle. It's a little confusing (on purpose), and there's a lot going on here, but I can tell that this is going to be a fic worth watching. Angel updates slowly, because she's deliberate in her writing and her set-up. If you're looking for angst, this one's for you.
04/01 - Ghost by Doublestuf
How can I explain this fic? There's so much going on here, it's hard to know where to start. It's set post-ITLITB, but far in the future. It is a Liz POV. She has managed to climb her way out of the alien abyss, but finds herself drawn back into Max's life when a "ghost" comes calling. Liz is awesome in this fic - not overly fierce, but strong in a way we always knew she could be. However, she is nowhere near perfect, and I like that about her. There are some heavy angst issues between Max and Liz, based on some stuff that happened in an alternate Senior year in this reality. Max is extremely damaged, and is almost unlikeable. He is hard to get a read on, because we don't get his view-point, but that makes the mystery of what is going through his mind all that much more tantalizing. The supporting portrayals are top notch, and original, particularly Michael's. This is my present fanfic obsession. I highly recommend losing yourself in Doublestuf's world for a few hours.
03/20 - Away From Here by Applebylicious
Set post-Max's time in the White Room. Max has returned from the White Room not quite right. Pierce's POV is key in this fic, and it's extremely distrubing, let me tell you, but also extremely interesting. I know where Lindsay is headed with this, and it's going to be great!
03/20 - Scars of White by behrinthecity
Set sort of post-Grad, with a twist. Michael never came back, and, so, Max was captured. However, everyone thinks he's dead, but really he's back in the White Room. This is a new writer, but so far the story is being built masterfully. It's just so great that new people are constantly STILL coming out of the shadows to enthrall use with a great story. I recommend this one, because I think it has a lot of potential.
o3/20 - That Which Hath Made Me... by Chione
By another newish writer, this fic is set during the period where Liz is at school in Vermont, trying to move on with her life away from Max. It is from Liz's POV, and one giant mistake during a drunken evening has led to serious consequences for both her and, probably, Max. This fic has a wonderful voice to it, and, while angsty, and mildly upsetting, is, also, I think, realistic to what Liz, as a teenaged girl with a broken heart, might have been going through in those circumstances. I highly recommend this one. I'm really intrigued.
01/05 - Into the Dreaming by Applebylicious
I haven't had much of a chance to read Lindsay's stuff, because she used to be mostly into writing non-Alien AU, which really just doesn't interest me. However, I'm thrilled that she has made the leap into straight canon Rosfic, because now I have a brilliant writer to read, who while not new to the fandom, is fairly new to me. I'm recommending this one, because it's the one I'm presently really intrigued by...What if Max woke up one morning to discover that all three seasons of the show - everything that happened - was a dream? How would things change for the better - or worse - if Max knew exactly what the consequences are going to be for various actions? Will everything still come out the same in the end? Are Max and Liz so fated to be together, that no matter what happens, they will end up that way? Since this is a theme I am examining in my Sins of the Father series, I find these questions fascinating. I recommend trying this one out. Someone mentioned in feedback on it that it had been done before, which may be true, but I don't think it's ever been done this well.
01/05 - Dark Hearts by roswellianprincess16
This fic can be hard-going. There are some character elements in it that I found difficult to accept (some of Liz's decisions in particular), but the overall story and premise is so strong, I just have to recommend it. Selena is definately an up-and-comer in the world of Rosfic, and I highly suggest making sure you don't miss the fascinating stories that spring from her talented computer. I've been following her for a few fics now, and while not every one interests me, her writing is getting better and better, and this one is almost a slam-dunk. I can't wait to see where she's headed next.
The Heart of this Christmas by KittCatt26
In the spirit of the season, one of my favorite RosChristmas stories. Enjoy!
Convergence by Caelan
Takes place post-Departure. The aliens all left not knowing that Tess was a mindwarping, murderous hose-beast. I can't even describe to you why this fic is so great. Suffice it to say, the portrayal of Max is the most damaged, and yet sexiest, thing I have encountered in fanfic in a long time. I just read this in one sitting (only seven parts so far!) and it is spell-binding. Funny, and angsty, and just plain great. Liz rules too. Highly recommended.
Happenstance by Angel
One of the few fics I am following religiously at Fanatics. What if Max, Isabel, and Michael had left Roswell at the end of the Pilot? The most believable representation of the characters as adults I have ever read.
