Glam-ou-Rama 17/6/3

Now, THIS was a bizarre one. Promising glamrock from 1972 to 1997, it sounded intriguing. So, we trekked to Camden, dressed like we were in 1998 and founda lot of other people who were dressed like we were in 1998. Of course, it was good to see a club with a bit of old school glamour but it was slightly unnerving all the same. The venue the WKD bar near Camden Town tube was tiny, barely bigger than a bar area, which made dancing a bit awkward. The music started off well, with some of the better indie disco staples (Kinks, Pixies, Menswear?) but the playlist took so many random twists and turns that it was all a little confusing. The DJs seemed to change every ten minutes, and the lack of cohesion showed. There wasnt much of the promised 70s glam and there was a fair amount of 2001/2 electroclash, which if I can count- comes after 1997. There was also a confusing goth edge the likes of Marilyn Manson and NIN and some 80s tracks. The crowd -as it were on the dancefloor changed with every track, to the extent that most people couldnt really be bothered. So, a whole loada room for improvement but having said that, this night could be really good if the DJs could just get it together. London needs a club with a real identity and this has the potential to be that club. Ill check it out again soon.
