Using Blogs to Learn about Degree Complements

A blog, or web log, is an Internet-based journal or diary. People keep blogs for many purposes; however, most blogs serve as personal diaries. You can find and create blogs on the following websites:

ü     Blogger

ü     Livejournal

Look at the occurrences of the following words in these blog excerpts: too, very, rather and enough. To which part of speech category do these word belong? Have you ever noticed that these words have different meanings depending on their usage?

Excerpt from Barleygirl’s blog:

“I found something to keep me busy. I am glad, it was kind of fun, in an odd sort of way. I just submitted some information (my lineage) to the Mayflower society of Ct. It would have been quick but I wasn't sure how to find the right connections to get me to John Alden. I found it though, submitted it and will see if they contact me back. I am very interested to see what happens next. It will be fun. Now all I have to do is get Sam's information and put it in because he is a Mayflower descendent, too. Cool huh?”

Excerpt from selene212’s blog:

“Help!
Black cashmere sweater on the counter, bottle of red wine on the wine rack, loose cork. So the sweater sat in a puddle of red wine acting as a sponge. It probably saved the floor and drawers, but i would rather mop and scrub than lose the sweater
I've cleaned the puddle of wine off the counter and the sweater is in my bathtub in cold water. What do I do? I don't know anything about cashmere.
The wine is bleeding out, but it looks like the dye might be doing the same :(”

Excerpt from selfconcerned’s blog:

“Yo.
My boyfriend and I are planning a VERY small wedding for next month. We are looking at restaurants to have our "reception." I know that there are a lot of wedding communities, but we're not really having a typical wedding, so I thought that I would possibly get better responses here.
It will be a 10-15-person party, and we're budgeting $20-25/person (sans alcohol). It's going to be not too formal. I am not wearing a white wedding dress to the wedding, rather something that's just more me. Important characteristics about a restaurant that we want... intimate setting, good food, and great with medium parties
We are trying to decide between lunch and an early dinner (it will be on a Friday-- so it looks like both will work out). I am leaning towards lunch, but he's leaning towards dinner. It mainly depends on when our officiant is going to be available (any suggestions on that would be greatly appreciated as well).
I grew up in Houston, but never got to go to super nice restaurants. We are having the ceremony at the Hermann Park Rose Garden.
Any suggestions where to go?
Thanks a million!”
