Other Animals We've Seen in the Gambia,
As Well As Us in Our Easter Finery
Here's a snoozing hyena.  Amazing how it blends into the background!
It looks a bit more familiar  standing up in this picture. As you can see, we got quite close to it!
Granted we took this with a telephoto lens through a tear (yikes!) in the chain link fence, but still, you have to admit he looks pretty impressive and pretty close! His mate is below.
Here is the elusive red monkey.  He was up in a tree, about 10 feet above us.  His front is red, his back is greyish brown, and his head almost black.  In contrast with the smaller brown monkeys, they are quite shy.
After a long hot walk through the nature reserve, we were hungry and tired.  Here we are relaxing at Lamin Lodge.  You can just see the river (still salty)  and mangrove swamp in the background.
We weren't quick enough to catch the one that ate Mrs. Holdsworth's lunch (on film or otherwise), but his little cousin seems to be starting off down that path at a young age...
Ok, so we're pushing the theme a bit.  Here we all are just back from Easter service.  Just to remind everyone that we still know how to dress up a bit - even if we rarely look this presentable on a regular basis!
