November 2005 - Trees

This location is in the woods near my house, it has always been a favorite place of mine... how the trees grow so strait and all in rows, it seems so eerie. Of coarse, this is because they were planted by someone decades ago, yet, this place is still creepy.

I was shooting for a bracketing assignment, I remember it was really windy, tree limbs were cracking and dead branches were falling around me. I really wanted an image that was sharp throughout but the light was so low. I used a slow shutter speed and held myself steady by leaning against a tree, even with this effort, my depth of field was still incredibly shallow. If you look closely, there is a thin strip of sharp focus about one third of the way up the path. Despite this, I still believe I got the desired effect.

Camera settings: f/3.4 @ 1/30th, #?. I used my Mamiya 645AFD (Medium Format) camera.
