Katherine Chan
 

    Australia’s young and talented choral conductor, Katherine Chan is currently completing a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting at the University Of Washington, USA with Dr. Geoffrey Boers.

Also an accomplished pianist, performer, accompanist and teacher, Katherine holds a Bachelor of Music Performance and Pedagogy, majoring in Classical Piano, studying under Natasha Vlassenko from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University in 2006.



Whilst studying at the Queensland Conservatorium, Katherine has won numerous awards including the Brisbane Women’s Club and Yvonne Hayson Bursary, the Ruby C Cooling Piano Bursary and MK Lassell Piano Scholarship. She is well recognised by both Zonta International North Brisbane Club and the Golden Key International Honour Society for her achievements. Katherine has had Masterclasses with well acclaimed pianist such as Oleg Stephanov, John Perry, Elizabeth Powell, Stephen Savage, Geffory Tozer and Jungwa Lee.

In 2003 to 2007, Katherine was the assistant director to  Dr. Debra Shearer-Dirié with Vox Pacifica Chamber Choir, performing at varies location in the Brisbane regions and on a nation level. She continues to be involved with Vox Pacifica Chamber choir on her visits to Brisbane, Australia. Other conductors Katherine have associated with include Bernhard Jahn (Germany), Edith Copley (USA), Dr. John Hooper (Canada),  Emily Ellsworth (USA), Graeme Morton (Australia), Lyn Williams (Australia), Stephen Leek (Australia) and Emily Cox (Australia). 

Since 2007, Katherine has been the assistant director and accompanist for the University of Washington Women’s Choir.
