Always watching
outward
(Or inward)
Yet never
engaged in the
present
The window sits idle
Listening
Watching
Waiting
Waiting to be useful
But the people only see past
For its structure
Is invisible
I'd never like to be a window. They certainly feel useless until someone looks out through them, and even then we don't pay them much attention. Isn't that like many other common objects? We don't go around talking to our toasters and things, nonetheless make a mental note like "Oh, I'm opening the door." They never really are able to see our appreciation for them.
