In this message, Tonya explains the structure of the machine, the people mill, structured to make sure there is a steady flow of suckers from the job-needy public into the system. It includes telling half-truths to newspapers to get them to run your ads, scheduling new interviews so they never come in contact with current trainees, and other manipulations of people and their trust.

I do not have the ad that led me to them but they are still posting the ads
every Wednesday - Sunday. It's a planned system - see you are told not only
what section to advertise in but what days to run your ads. When I was
getting prepared to leave for Ohio I was given a list of probably 15 - 20
different recruitment ads. I was told that when we got set up in the office
to call and get the ad rates from the local newspaper. Based on those rates
(remember you are on limited funds by this time) I was to pick anywhere from
2 - 6 of the recruitment ads to run in the General Employment section of the
newspaper. When the newspaper ask what kind of business you were hiring for
(because they will) we were instructed to tell them that it was "cosmetic
distribution" or something along those lines but to never mention the
words "sales" or "independent contractors" or "training to run ones own
business". See you say those words and the newspaper will make you post your
ads in the "Sales" or "Business Opportunity" section of the employment pages -
thus causing fewer people to respond to the ad. You know the saying "sales is
a numbers game" well in the world of Scentura your whole livelihood is based
on a numbers game. That's how they attract so many people. See the person's
name on the ad is phony - and you use a different name on every ad. That way
when people call in you can track which ads are drawing in the most response.
You change up the ads each week - you know - you may keep the 2 that are
bringing in the most response and then add two totally different ones. You
also do things like get multi-line phones. That way the numbers are different
on the ads as well so people don't get suspicious too quick. When we first
started in Ohio we had 2 numbers at the office and then 1 at the house - so we
were running 3 ads with 3 different names and 3 different numbers all saying
something completely different. - Like I said I don't have my original ad,
but I will be more than happy to mail you the Employment section from this
Sunday's paper and circle all of the D.I. ads. I can also get on the
employment web-site for the paper and pull them from there and email you a
couple - just so you see what I'm talking about.

The days you run the ads are important as well. You want to run your ads
Wednesday - Sunday. Why???? Well Sunday because of the obvious - it's the
most circulated paper. But when someone calls you want to get them in for an
interview ASAP (time is money!!). The way our weeks ran when I was there was
like this.... Monday and Tuesday were new-hire training days, Wednesday -
Friday are on the street selling days for the entire office (new-hires
getting "trained" and the recently promoted "trainers" doing the training)
Saturday is the big "PROMOTION" meeting and then Sunday - Tuesday is the
satellites (overnight selling sprees in other cities). So here's the logic.
You run your ads Wednesday - Sunday ... you interview ASAP offering Monday
after 1:00 (1st day of training ends at 12:00) no need to worry about a stop
time cause your current hires are out of town selling. Your next available
day is Tuesday after 1:00 for the same reason. Then you have all day on
Wednesday and Thursday because the office is out selling and that leaves you
Friday for the coveted 2nd interview (to group the entire weeks worth) and the
new class can start on Monday. Does that make sense - it's hard to write it
all out exactly.

Also the BBB information works the same way. You are told that after you get
a little money to apply for the BBB but list your business has a cosmetic
distribution or wholesaler. It's all planned out.
