Hello mateys,
Just the first of many quickies, our stay in Greece has been hot so far. Athens wasn't as shitty as it had been described, did the Acropolis visit - very squeaky place (walking on the marble pathways around it). Had to make a deal with C to not touch the stray cats - don't have any worm tablets in the first aid package so she has to beeeehave. Met Justin and Alicia on the bus into Athens - they were a pair of (nice, quiet) Americans with few clues about where to stay - same as us. So we joined forces to hunt down accommodation. Later parted company on the ferry to Naxos as they headed south to Santorini.
We arrived to find a bunch of touts vying for our attention - we almost camped, but managed to score a nice, cool room for ten quid a nite - not much less to camp. Got a bathroom/shower with it - Nice! We have been doing bugger all else except lying in the sun, swimming, eating food and more eating. It's just great, and so worthwhile having worked for it.
We will be leaving this lovely place in a couple a days, to head north from Athens by plane. Hope to catch a bus up that way to take us to Istanbul.
Ok dudes, spent tonite's munchies money on the internet, so have to go to do some haka busking down the water front. Caroline has got her poi ready, just working on the words for the waiata. Will keep you all informed as to how successful this dosh making venture will be......
Hello mateys,
Dunno if you knew about it but a ferry sunk on way to Paros island from Athens, and was part of the route we take to get back to mainland from Naxos. We weren't on the boat so we are still alive and kicking, though only just. Delays were the massive brutha, we kept the Naxos pier warm with a ragtag bunch of tired, fed up travellers wanting to get off Naxos and on to somewhere else. Bugger all sleep can do some wicked work to your body, but we are hanging in there. I hope those bastards who crewed the boat get justice.
Anyway, C and me are off to meet the rest of our itinerary as we'd previously informed you.
Later,
Riley and Caroline.
PS: Didn't go for the haka routine on the waterfront cause it was too windy for my grass skirt. The police warned there'd be fifty lashes for indecent exposure if the wind caught me adrift. C just hit me with her pois for thinking up such a stupid idea (& story).
