| Holding on For GC
Sammy woke up and got out of bed. It was just another day in her meaningless life. She hated every single day, and she hated everyone shed ever met, even her own mum. So why was she still here? Her favourite band was Good Charlotte. They had shown her that it was possible to love something, they had taught her that it was okay to be alone, and most importantly, they had kept her holding on.Sammy switched on the PC, while it was starting up she went downstairs for her breakfast of peanut butter on toast. She came back upstairs to her room. She logged in to check her emails, even though she knew her inbox was going to be empty. She was bored already; shed only been up for fifteen minutes. She decided to click on local news, she didnt know why. Like she cared whats going on around her. Suddenly something caught her eye. She couldnt believe it. There was going to be a charity show just round the corner from her house, and the special guest star was none other than the man she idolized, Mr. Benji Madden himself! Shed never been so excited in her life. She had to get tickets to that show, the site said that they were 5 from the community centre. Sammy frantically ran around her room looking for some money. She practically skipped to the community centre and back. The ticket was safely locked away in her cupboard until Friday, the day of the show. Sammy woke up and got out of bed. This was not just another day; this was going to be the best day ever. She might even get to speak to Benji! She walked down to where the show was being held. She was the first one there said the security guard. Gradually more people arrived, the gates were opened, and Sammy made sure she was right at the front of the stage. After about twenty minutes, some guy in a suit came on stage and explained that Benji was going to be performing with a local band, playing a variety of songs from bands such as The Beatles, Oasis, The Clash, and of course, Good Charlotte. Sammy was shaking with anticipation, "any minute now" she was thinking. Then, there he was, two feet in front of her. She guessed she was the only GC fan there, because she was the only one screaming his name. He looked at her and winked. She almost collapsed with happiness. Then the music started. Benji was playing guitar, and some short, blonde guy was singing. She couldnt see the rest of the band.Sammy didnt know the first song, but she knew the second, Hold On by Good Charlotte. "Oh great, Im gonna be crying in front of Benji." She thought. Hold On always had her in tears. Benji was doing lead vocals for this song; Sammy sang the words with him, looking at him through blurry eyes. Sammy was so glad that GC had kept her holding on, otherwise her dream wouldnt have come true. But the best was yet to comeAfter the band had finished their set, Benji walked over to Sammy. "Thanks for your support out there, I think the rest of the crowd were dead or somethin" He said to her, his lip piercings clanked against his teeth as he talked. Sammy giggled nervously; Benji Madden was talking to her. "Oh my God! Say something Sammy!" she thought to herself."Thankyou", That was all she could say."Your welcome?" said Benji, slightly puzzled. "For keepin me alive, I mean," Explained Sammy. "You and the other GC guys gave me hope. If it wasnt for your song Hold On, I probably wouldnt be here talkin to you right now." "Wow" Said Benji. Sammy continued, "Im so happy, not only did you give me hope, but youve also just made my dream come true today. I really cant thank you enough.""You dont need to thank me, jus keep representin," He said looking directly into her eyes. "Oh, and keep holidin on!" He said as the security guard ushered her out of the gates. "Keep holdin on for GC" Benji muttered to himself, as he turned around to walk back to his dressing room. |
