Helen Tanos Hope adoptees adopted 1968 through December 1993 who believe they may have the name of their Birth Mother may write to the above address for verification.  If the name matches the name of record, Josette can verify the name, but Josette cannot tell you who the birth mother is if that name does not match, or if you write requesting information on your birth mother's name.
Out of State Adoptions:

If your adoption was FINAL in another state other than Florida, Florida more than likely will not have any information in your adoption file.  All adoptees are encouraged to send to the below address for offical information on your adoption.  If your adoption was finalized in another state other than Florida, you will also receive a letter stating what they do and do not know about your adoption.

Florida Dept of Children & Families
Post-Adoption Services Unit
ATTN: Josette Marquess
1317 Winewood Blvd.
Blg. 6 Suite 100
Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0700

Adoptees that were born in Florida and adopted in another state can now petition the court of Duval County to have their records opened.  Individuals must be prepared to show documents that verify a valid and urgent medical need for the information contained in their adoption file.
Remember that we are FloridaSearchAngels and are here to help you with your search.  All adoptions are unique in their own way and style, there is no set answer that will answer all adoption questions.  If you have a question, Please ask us first and we will help you find an answer or find someone that can answer your question.  Please contact us on our main page "E-mail US" and we will be happy to help.

Florida does not have a Confidential Intermediary (CI) Program - Unlike other programs in other states, Florida courts do not appoint people to serve in the capacity of a go-between or CI so that contact between both parties can be made.  Anyone claiming to be a CI in the state of Florida is doing so without the permission of the court and is effect operating in an official capacity.
