Florida Non-Identifying (NON-ID) Information
For Adoptees - Only
Florida law gives adult adoptees (age 18 or older) and their adoptive parents the right to NON-ID information.  But, you have to request this in writing.  The cost of NON-ID from the state is FREE.  FloridaSearchAngels require that every adoptee request their NON-ID from the state.
To request NON-ID, please write a simple letter of request along with a copy of your ammended birth certificate and photo identification, such as a copy of your Driver's license and send it all to the below address:
Florida Dept. Of Children & Families
Post Adoption Services Unit
ATTN: Josette Marquess
1317 Winewood Blvd.
Bldg. 6 Suite 100
Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0700
WHAT IS NON-ID?
NON-ID is non identifying information that was provided by your birthfamily at the time of your adoption.  This varies on each adoption depending on what is in your adoption record and file.  Information is pulled from your adoption file and re-written for adult adoptees (18 years or older).  Information that is non identifying is re written or re-stated so as to protect the birth family.

NON-ID information that you may receive may include the following:

Your Hospital of your birth
City of Birth
Verification of your Date of Birth (DOB)
Birthparent ages at the time of your adoption
Region in the country where your birthparents were born and/or from
Number of sibling you may have
Possible reasons you were placed for adoption
If an agency was involved in your adoption
Attorney that handled your adoption
County and State your adoption was finalized in
Education of your birth family
Grand Parent information
Aunt and Uncle information
Work History

Remember ALL adoptions are unique and information that you may get is all based on what information was provided at the time of your adoption.
If your adoption occurred after 1979, the state does not have any micro-filmed records of these adoptions.  Please, still request your NON-ID!  You will need to allow more time for your NON-ID information in order for the state to request and obtain your file from the county of final adoption.  THIS WAIT COULD BE AS LONG AS 6 MONTHS!
If you are an ADULT ADOPTEE (18 years or older) and you need to know which agency/attorney that handled your adoption.  Please call Josette Marquess at 850-922-6234 (Direct Line).  DO NOT ASK other questions on the telephone as SHE WILL NOT and CAN NOT answer them.  Send a request for additional information in writing as stated above.
